"We are very unhappy with this latest postponement," Morrison told STV. "Especially after the fight was called off in December, and now this. This is unacceptable.
"I spoke to Ricky this morning. As you can imagine he's upset.
"He's sacrificed a lot, training and the cost of sparring partners. That's about £12,000 of his own money in training costs he's now down over the last two fights.
"The treatment of him is pretty disrespectful," added Morrison, who refused to confirm whether Burns will fight on the re-arranged April 20 date.
"They can say what they want about it. I'm not saying if it is or isn't going to go ahead on that day.
"Let's just say our relationship with allegedly is pretty strained."

Why? Vazquez getting ill isn't his fault, Liam Walsh's car crash can't be attributed to Warren, although I'm sure a few on here will try.
Could be for other reasons? (eg money)

George Groves drove the car into Walsh and sneezed near Vasquez. He then infested Daniel from Kent with tourettes syndome.

"Call me old fashioned" Dan from Kent ?
The thing is (and I read this on another forum) is that when there is a big unification fight, both of the fighters are forever chatting about what they will do to each other, how they have respect but will be coming to knock them out etc etc.
Then you would get Billy Nelson and Capitello joining in, with them getting personal - and you'd have the tense press conference with both men sizing each other up and going head to head for the cameras...
..and we have seen nothing of the above. You would think that in the final month you would read a statement a day, to pump people up to buy a ticket or a subscription.
All we had was Ricky in a Mexican restaurant ... on his own. And no statement from either fighter. Just Vasquez on record with Seckbach saying he didn't know what he was on about !

Don't forget the photo of Vazquez and Capetillo holding a signed contract. That got me pumped.
The point you make hits the nail on the head. This card had 3 world titles at stake and featured 2 out of the UKs 3 current world champions. Cleverly could have been holed out with Lord Lucan for all the publicity he currently has.

Ultimately though, you can parcel up the blame for this sorry scenario, & lay it squarely upon the Hammersmith doorstep of one G. Groves, Esq.

Oh dear, sad for Ricky Burns at this sorry sitaution and the sorry promoter he works for. He's ran out of cash, he's ran out of caaaaash, that boy Fr*nk W*rren, he's ran out of cash.

Anyone in the UK knows just how easy it is to get a doctors sick note, it means absolutely nothing.
Never in the history of cancelled promotions where cash has been the stumbling block has the promoter come out and said "its down to cash". Drumming up an excuse is just part of the spin process.
If Morrison has gone public with the twelve grand figure, you can bet he is angling for that amount to be added to Ricky's purse. Which leaves the promoter with both parties wanting bigger purses for next month's rescheduled bill, and even if he's insured, the cancellation of the March date will have cost him too, you can't walk away from a major indoor arena booking at two weeks' notice and not get stung.

And that's all you need to know about this sorry tale. I absolutely pissed myself at the disgraceful article BS ran with Vasquez and his trainer holding up a 'contract' with one signature on it.
"I have in my hand a piece of paper"
Which, as it happens, meant f**k all, just like the one Neville Chamberlain came back with.

Given the events that occured over the last couple of weeks, its hard to believe Vasquez is out due to illness, its far more likely he's got money concerns of some sort. I dont see this fight happening now.
Burns should jump Warrens sinking ship as soon as possible.

Richard Schaefer reached out to Burns’ promoter allegedly about a fight on June 15th, but the answer was no, according to Dan Rafael.
Rafael said on his twitter “Schaefer told me he reached out to Warren about @ricksterko facing @AdrienBroner in June sted [instead] of resked [rescheduled] Vazquez. Said Burns manager [Alex Morrison] declined.”

Wish Ricky would cheer up the fans and accept the fight. Not sure he's entitled to laugh it off when he's twice ducked Broner

You think it was Burns who ducked, or his management?

Management. Ricky's as game as they come.
I think Broner would win comfortably and looks set for a long run at the top.

I think it was all of them. If Ricky really wanted the fight it would have to have happened. Ricky's trainer and manager have never had it so good - and will not again, in all likelihood, once Ricky is no longer world champ - so they will naturally want the gravy train to run and run, but I recall Warren going public about his enthusiasm for the fight in late dec / early jan, when the Feb date was on the table for Ricky. So personally I think Ricky and his immediate boxing family have no interest in facing Burns.

Regardless of what Ricky or I earn it's earned.
Were not here to jump every time the wee Broner chap open his ever open gob challenging Ricky Burns,he's doing it coz Ricky is the biggest fight out there for him imo

I cant see a way of Burns beating Broner if it happens and Im a Burns fan but it does annoy me that Broner feels the need to call out Burns as if the fight can be made so easily.
If Broner challenged Burns to a fight in Glasgow with even terms and Burns knocked him back then I would say he was ducking him. When a fighter makes all the demands in a one sided negotiation and a fighter rejects then is that ducking? Really?
Obviously im making big assumptions about what has happened or been offered but if Burns was made a fair offer then i reckon they would jump at it.
Imagine how much it would cost to bring an adrien broner to the uk to fight at this stage in his career and then tell me that is what they would offer burns to go to the US...... No chance!

Billy you've done brilliant and nobody can take that away from you or Ricky, and you've earned everything you've got. What was your view then, when the prospect of Ricky facing Broner cropped up ? Presumably Ricky listens and respects your opinion ? I am not talking about a Burns / Broner fight in general, I'm talking about the two specific occasions when the fight was there to be made and Ricky went in another direction. Clearly, somebody wasn't keen on it. I am guessing it was you and the manager. Was it ? All of a sudden, Ricky was not able to make super-featherweight, so he vacated and moved up. It coincided with Broner being the next opponent at super-featherweight, so fans like me perceive that Ricky's move up in weight was done partly to dodge Broner. Funny how Ricky made the weight a few months earlier for easier fights. Team Burns ducked Broner back then and in Jan, when a late Feb fight with Broner was on the table, Team Burns ducked him again. You come out with general comments like "when they fight my man will win" but how about being a bit more specific because this isn't a fantasy match that might happen, its a unification that SHOULD happen and that promoters have been trying to make happen. Someone in your camp doesn't want it. Who ?
(PS, for some reason that got sent as a private message, that was an error at my end Billy)

I think Broner v Burns is the fight that i want to see if vazquez is messing about, Broner could turn out to be Burns' Bute or Lacy imagine where that would put him on the world scene? You just never know what will happen when you have a massively hyped but fairly untested fighter up against someone who has forged them self in the ring.
