The Ron Crookes from Sheffield is 75 next Thursday (April 1), so could well be alive. Did an address search under that name in Sheffield and it brought up one address only:

Why not drop him a line and see if it's him?

The great Ron Olver, of Boxing News, is the undisputed old timers' expert in this country, but does everything on a bog standard typewriter and is now in very poor health (he is blind, and his daughter does his typing for him).
