Kevin Mitchell of The Gurdain is reporting today that Burns to Matchroom is a done deal.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2013/ma ... -matchroom
"The Matchroom managing director, Eddie Hearn, refused to confirm or deny the move on Saturday night, but I understand the deal has already been agreed and Burns is scheduled to be at the press conference."
Anyone who has been reading Kevin Mitchells boxing column over the past 10 days will know he has been 100% accurate with his reporting.

I just don't see how this works. How do you just "walk" away from Frank W@rren and his promotional contract? Elsewhere on this site someone posted a link to a Frank quote where as far as he's concerned the fight with Vazquez is on for April and he expects Burns to be in the other corner.
It would be a shame if the only fighting was done in a court room rather than boxing ring.

Warrens contracts have been found not to be watertight in the past, notably the verbal one he had with Calzaghe and the management contract he had with Bellew. The key will be in the detail - if Burns can demonstrate that the terms of the contract have been breached then it could be straightforward. But these things tend to take time and if Warren fights it, I can't see how Burns fights anytime soon.

Interesting stuff.
Strange that it would happen so quickly. I assume that if it does get announced then Wazza will be on BN again tomorrow explaining what has happened.

If Eddie makes Burns v Rees then it's a major step backward for Burns when he has a fight with Vazquez lined up and a potential deal to fight Broner, so we will see if it was Frank who didn't want the big fights or if Team Burns no there limits because even his new promoter has said Broner is a couple of levels above Burns, but being the promoter am sure he's since changed his tune

A breach of contract could be completely unrelated to the Vazquez fight.

Maybe Ricky would prefer to be paid to fight someone like Rees than not be paid for not fighting Liam Walsh?

Would Bunny be able to lodge the £ss required if thios were to go to court?
Bunny might lose add have to pay Matchrooms costs etc, the last time Matchroom requested Bunny cough up, the case was dropped.
Eddie wins, again.

Yeah am pretty sure Walsh planned a car crash just so Frank wouldn't have to pay for the fight, It was a shit fight but it was a keep busy fight before a big fight against Vazquez who until Broner moved up was the number 1 in the division

You'd have to imagine there's a breach of contract. Hearn seems to have an excellent legal team.
Superb news if Burns gets more exposure and no reason why the Broner fight can't happen via Hearn. Schaefer says Broner will fight either Burns in Vegas or Paullie in New York, the latter is not a done deal.

"Burns will confirm the move to Matchroom at a news conference in London's Grosvenor House Hotel on Monday afternoon.
He will announce that
his next fight will be a defence of his title in Glasgow in May. No opponent has been confirmed as yet."
Gavin Rees?

Broner v Burns def not happening, Paulie v Broner is made for June 20 Brooklyn.
Personally think this move was a mistake and just a bandwagon jump if they do go with fast eddie.

Good interview. fighters not being paid on time raised its head again. Eddie suggests he has around 16 fighters currently contacting him to join his promotion. "You wouldn't believe the level of some of these fighters" he said, or something very close to that effect.
Nathan Cleverly?
Dereck Chisora?
Paul Smith?
Billy Joe Saunders?
Liam Smith?
Frankie Gavin?
John Murray?
Kevin Mitchell?
Liam Walsh?
Stephen Smith?
Eddie does however acknowledge he can't sign everyone, as he doesn't have the air time to showcase each one fairly.

Chad,
Why have you only listed one Promotors fighters as possible recruits for Hearn ?
Do you not feel for example that there might be some Hatton or Hennessey fighters interested in a move ?

I think there is more chance of Warrens stable of fighters looking for a move ahead of the other promoters fighters. Scott Quigg needs to be on TV so he might be in the mix too.

Hearn revealed on Monday: "We've got 16 fighters at the moment who want to sign with us and, if I wasn't full up, I'd sign them all. I'm going to announce another signing on Wednesday, and after that we might have space for one or two."
He is in discussion with Sky Sports to expand his calendar from 20 fights a year to 30, and said: "That would give me a chance to sign [some] of these others. I've got four five amateurs that I could sign, if we had the dates,
and there are half a dozen existing champions who want to join who I'd love to sign, as well. You can't sign them all.
The large majority are [from one stable]. The amateurs are Olympians."
It still sounds to me like it's allegedly fighters.
