This puts April 20th in severe doubt. Will those brown envelopes he's sent out be recalled?

This has been quite a shocking time for British boxing really. I can't remember something as major happening in recent times

Who would you clear out? Most of the matchroom stable are currently doing well, none are really on the decline

It will be interesting to see what obligations FW is in breach of. Eddie seems very confident that they have Ricky tucked up in the Matchroom stable. Has FW commented on this yet?

I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to work out the alleged breaches.
Poor old Robert Smith !

I was more of a geography kind of kid. Enlighten me.

With Bellew wasn't he misinformed/mislead about relinquishing his title which is a definitive and clear reason.

Say it god damn you! :-)

From what I can glean it seems like their main gripe was with inactivity and fights falling through. Is that enough to wiggle out of your contract?

As we say in the North - it will all come out in the wash.

warrens issued statment on Web site saying he intends to sue and Burns has made close to 3 Quarters off a million since being promoted by him and has 7 title defences in 2 years

Maybe Eddie has promised him alot more cash

Good move for Burns ... It should hopefully be good choice for him in his career

Not sure it's wise for anyone to be speculating on the details, given that it's gone legal.

But, as mentioned above, I'm sure all will be revealed in due course.

The two-weight world champion will fight for the first time under Eddie Hearn live on Sky Sports on May 11, at a venue to be announced soon.
Any chance Burns could fight Vazquez on this bill?

I hope Burns doesn't defend his title against a highly ranked Argentinian.

I was thinking they might try Scot Harrison in a Scottish "mega fight". I hope not. Probably Rees if it does go ahead. Although I wouldn't be surprised to see allegedly try and get an injunction.

I would not be surprised if allegedly has a word with his pals at the WBO to either have him stripped of the belt or make him fight his mandatory (something he has not done in 2 and a half years as "world" champion).

Paulus Moses was a mandatory

Both would be awful defences of his title.

In fact he wasn't. Sounded right but apparently Guerrero was Burns' mandatory at the time of the Moses fight.

I don't think he was. Burns was Interim for a bit then Marquez gave it up. Looking at WBO Rankings cant see Moses being ranked 1 (or 2) when they fought - March 12.

Sorry mate - just seen your updated post!

No disrespect but i hope its not Rees,Burns is a longer serving World titlist than Broner so he shouldnt be feeding of his scraps, again no disrespect :TU:

I wouldn't describe Rees as scraps, he's a quality boxer, better than the vast majority of Burns opponents.

Considering the level of opponent Burns has been facing recently (Mitchell severely underperformed), I'd fully expect him to have two or three fights, in Scotland, before Broner.

:TU: Fair play scraps does sound harsh to a fighter who was a world champ not long ago and European/British this year but he was totally outclassed by Broner,i know he started well but i think that was more to do with Adrien sizing Gavin up and not throwing any punches but i want Ricky to try and be the best boxer to come out of Scotland not to keep being labeled the new Steve Robinson, all due respect to Ricky he`s had his "easy" fights its time to take on the world.although i must stess i dont think its Burns dodging anyone i think its his manager Alex Morrison

I'm a little sad for Wwarren, Ricky is the one in the ring but I thought Fwank did a great job taking him on from being a fairly average domestic level operator to world champ..don't know what's happening behind the scenes but I would have thought Ricky would have showed him some loyalty. If it ends up being Burns v Bum in Scotland then all concerned can all suck a dick.

People go on as if Hearn is some kind of fcuking hero saving British boxing but Saturdays card was absolute farce, pathetic night
