allegedly: "Make no mistake, this bout with Michael Kizza, who is a tough opponent, is a massive test for Alex Arthur.
"It will answer all the questions raised by Michael Gomez's fifth-round stoppage defeat of Arthur at Meadowbank in October 2003."

Even Sky got in on the act labelling Kizza in their preview "A Michael Gomez style clone"
Sure it wasn't the same pygmie they wheeled over for Witter a while back?

Larry Merchant on Friday:
"Guinn is the best American heavyweight since Riddick Bowe...maybe one more fight and he'll be ready to challenge the big guys, absolutely."
Larry Merchant on Saturday:
"I'll get my coat, shall I?"

Well at least he wasn't talking about Audley for once.

I don't know quite what to make of Merchant, he has many years of experience and usually talks sense, but the fact it takes him about an hour to ask a question or make a point and comments like this lead me to think seriously about whether he is good or bad.

To be honest Steve I thought Guinn looked like a future champ too, though I haven't heard much about the fight other than he got outpointed.
I was just having a laugh at old Larry, who I do like listening to.
He used to be a great journalist apparently, though I haven't ever read his stuff. and he still comes out with some great lines when he's commentating.
But he must have had flashbacks last night, to when he declared Michael Grant the future of heavyweight boxing!

Howard Cosell when a co-commentator referred to a rising Marvin Hagler as class (during Hagler's fight with the Argentinian Norberto Cabrera).
"You think he is class!"

Was that in a rhetorical context?
