Just a quick ideation regarding signing fighters, as matchroom has been busy as lately, now do matchroom pay a fighter a signing on fee ? And then guarantee them X amount per fight ?
How exactly does it work?

There are no exact rules mate.
Depends upon the profile, level of fighter - any number of things.
It's a job for the fighter's Manager if he has one.
I can recommend an excellent Manager / Lawyer if anyone needs help.
Obviously employing a Manager comes at a cost but there are countless examples of fighters who have taken the "economic" route and done negotiations themselves with no Manager and come unstuck.

i just kinda wondered if they got like a signing on fee , e.g lee selby would he of gotten a lump sum for signing with matchroom, and would matchroom have set dates for him to fight ? as im assuming these top pro's are full time and dont work during the day

Mickey Duff used to give signing on fees, but essentially he was just paying you upfront as he would reclaim that investment from future purses.

Like I said earlier there are no hard and fast rules.
If you were to ask me in general terms if I were the Manager of someone of Lee's standing I would say that I would be seeking a signing on fee, guarenteed minimum purse for Commonwealth British European World fights (all different) and a minimum no of fights per annum (season).
There are also bits and bobs to refine such as sponsorship etc.
Boxing is like snakes and ladders. Contracts are great when you're on the up.

yes the signing on fee was basically a loan
