He ain't got much to choose for his Oz voluntary title defence. After checking past ratings, this could very well been sanctioned as an early mandatory.

i,ve seen his record[watts] and he is still a 6 rounder, a big jump ,especially when your opponent is a title holder.Game trainer,or he,s seen something in Ammanns book that might give his boy a chance,anyway hope the kid goes well,as long as he doesn,t get hurt, all the best

To date, Amatruda/Michael shows have held well

Certainly going to look into ticket and flight prices. A good Sunday afternoon show nothing better.

Unfortunately the Australian belts are not regarded as highly as they were. Pitt beat Ammann for the Australian title but had to relinquish it when he won the OPBF title.

Not really. There was all sorts of problems when they held both titles. They don't give up the title.....they lose it, and since last October ANBF's AGM weight class makes no difference - as soon as they step into the ring....Oz title is history.

There are 2 sides to this issue though. It means some national titles end up being contested by fighters with barely a win to their names.

Well it's time for dinosaurs to move on, and bring in some new energy, then add a dash of modern thinking collabarated with some vintage values. If great fighters of the past were able to hold a national, commonwealth title and world title all at once, why not today.

As a sport, i can't think of any other form of sport which pays as much homage to athletes of the past, all you ever hear is how great fighters were in the black and white era, belts are shrined with photo's of legends, shrined with gold, how can todays fighter measure up when the title they win is automatically taken from them without fighting, when they contest another title to improve ones ranking with one of the 4 sanctioning bodys that holds a fighters ultimate prize.A belt should be won, not lost because a fighter seeks to improve thier ranking. The belt would eventually gain it's own ranking with orgs, if it's silly rule was to strip and allow 6 and 9 to fight for it's vacancy, it becomes cordial, watered down and ask any kid, not quite the genuine article.
When greed is removed from the sport, and sensabilty is transparent for all, the sport will flourish again, and it's rightful place as a mainstream sport will see it recieve the sponsorship it needs.

There is no other sport with such recognisable combatants. At the top are: national heros; people champions; charismatic transcendant individuals, who are popular across national borders.

In the history of movies, one sport is by far the most depicted and that is boxing, as it represents both the rawness and toughness of the fighter in a one-on-one confrontation. Script-writers just love the game for all it's twists and turns and the public just laps up the "good versus evil" storylines.

Nope, as far as I know. Initially it was planned for Wednesday 24th, which suggested Main Event ppv, but it appears promoters Amatruda/Michael decided to go it alone.
