Why have boxrec got this fight on the schedule for the undercard to Froch Kessler??

Because it's been announced by the Board.

I suppose it's a bit of insurance for Tony if the wheels come off for him on 30th March. Common sense, I suppose.

However, if Tony wins on 30th, I really hope he vacates and let's Bob fight for it against someone else.

Could also be a keep busy fight as Dawson is set to face Stevenson in June

Don't you think that would be a bit of a risk pal? Obviously Tony has improved since their first fight (when Bob had him over, think on) but so has Bob.

If Dawson fight is not made until around autumn then it would mean Bellew spending maybe 6/7 months out of the ring. Ajisafe is also a southpaw which could help with Dawson task.

Bellew should of been stripped/vacated he clearly has no interest in defending the belt and it's put the division on hold the board should order a 4 man tournament with McKenzie v Mcintosh and Ajisafe v Maccarinelli with the winners fighting for the vacant title

Bob deserves a tilt, if Bellew wins his eliminator he should give up the british title, does he own the belt yet?..

If he doesn't fight Ajisafe he will be stripped.

I think Bellew vs Ajisafe is a good keeping busy fight for Bellew.

He's not defended it once since he won the vacant belt against McIntosh 11 months ago

So for a PPV card your happy with a keep busy fight as part of the card

It's a keep busy fight because Bellow has bigger ambitions, but this is still a genuine British title fight, the last one was a cracker.

I prefer if Tony holds onto the British belt in all honesty. I wish this was the case right across the board. I dont think its right that as soon as that particular fighter has ambitions beyond British level they should have to give it up. They arestill legitimately the best fighter in the country at that weight in Britain.

By vacating the belt all it does is facilitate lower level fighters to become British champions. No disrespect to Gethin but is he even in the top 5 lightweights in the country at the moment?

Burns, Mitchell, Murray, Rees, Crolla, Matthews I thinks all have a case for being ranked above. Only one maybe two of those fighters you could say is at world level. I see the argument for keeping the belt active but surely it devalues the belt if you are getting two fighters in the latter half of a British top 10 competing for a vacant belt.

Understand where you're coming from but defend or vacate IMO.

I won it against McKenzie and defended it against McIntosh! I've always stated I refuse to vacate titles! It's not the right thing to do IMHO.. I worked hard to become British Champion and worked even harder defending it! All ill say on this matter is don't believe a fight is happening until you hear it from myself. :TU:

My mistake but if you was 1 of the other light heavy you'd be screaming blue murder if the champion hadn't defended the belt in 11 months your clearly above British level and it's obviously a insurance policy if thing don't work out on the 30th, am a big fan I'll be there on the 30th cheering you on but I don't think you should hold the division up

You'll be stripped if you don't fight Ajisafe.

Why is getting stripped better than vacating?
