Allegedly has said in his column today (the full one, on his website) that "whispers" claim that Channel 5 has pulled out of boxing coverage.

I assume fisheyes would never sxxt-stir about such a thing if he didn't have a reliable source, particularly with the fortnight he's had.

Its not very good news for Fury and DeGale....

I was of the belief they had been getting really good viewing figures so seems a bit strange if they have pulled it .

If thats true thats a fornicating shame :(

Apparently Frank Maloney mentioned it last night at his York Hall show and the rumours have spread from there, Channel 5 have had a big shake up of its organisation and a review of its sporting coverage took place earlier this week apparently.

Yesterday Hennessey announced that next Saturday's show with Degale and Eubank Jnr was cancelled.

Not good this is for UK boxing needs to reach wider audience as possible.

i never liked the set up on channel 5 hopefully allegedly will pick up the rest of the fights but i dont see why other/smaller channels dont try to cover boxing

As great as that channel is for overseas fights it not reaching the audience Hennessy has been getting on 5

Only heard from Peter Fury saying he didn't know the details of why the Degale card was pulled. Not much else from what I can see.

they will have to come crawling to mr warren now as its there only option,,,

or else try and sign with eddie hearn

Boxing in this country is on its arse shame as there s so much talent

Unfortunately for us Virgin Media subscribers, we don't get Loaded TV. That's not a dig I'm just pointing out that not everyone has access to these smaller channels.
I'm also pretty frustrated that as a Virgin customer I don't get Premier Sports, or whatever it's called. They're showing all the rugby league from Australia this season and I don't get to see it

As for Channel 5 pulling out, that is bad news if true. If Channel 5 don't see boxing as worthy then what chance do we ever have of making it back to terrestrial TV?
As has been pointed out I did think that C5 got got figures for their coverage of boxing and, love him or loathe him, Tyson Fury is surely an attraction on his own?

Is Allegedly now rubbing his hands at the thought of Hennesey moving his stable across to BoxNotion thus firming up their domestic coverage after all his recent defections.

I believe gorgeous Eddie is looking for a heavyweight.

Without boxing on free to view TV the sport will gradually recede into a ghetto. Fury et al on C5 have reinvigorated wider interest in boxing and had good viewing figures what a shame if that goes.

If true this is terrible news for boxing and boxing fans who can't afford subscription TV.

I agree boxing at home is best enjoyed in front of the living room TV however at least there are viewing options for those without SKY.

Hopefully BT Sports have an interest in British boxing giving the likes of Maloney, Hatton and Hennessy a chance to showcase their fighters. I just can't understand why boxing consistently seems to have a torrid time when it comes to TV. Boxing is arguably Britains second favourite sport. When the right fights are made the hype is incredible. It's always fascinated me how the British public from almost all backgrounds and age groups connect with massive fights. Bruno Vs. Lewis, Eubank Vs. Benn, Hatton Vs. Mayweather, Fury Vs. Chisora, Haye Vs. Klitschko etc.... Apart from football, no other sport has this impact on the British psyche. You'd think TV executives would throw money at promoters to enable them to bring these types of fights to their network. I think that is what SKY are trying to do with Matchroom.

Nothing concrete though.

As others have said, not good for the sport of boxing. Maybe Primetime (same company) put the bill on..

I've been critical of Hennessy in the past, but he looked liked he'd come back from the brink with this Channel 5 deal and it seemed to be doing quite well with Fury getting a good name for himself with the general public.

Definitely bad for the sport of boxing in this country.

I'm not that suprised.

Lets be honest here think back to a show on Channel 5 that you were really looking forward to.

I can name only one which was the very first show they did Chisora v Fury which was a very good scrap ( would have been miles better had Dereck not been messed about by Wlad) I'll admit I did think Eubank v Bradley Pryce was a good scrap too Degales first fight on Channel 5 was a lot better than I expected it to be.

Its a shame this has happened as it can give lads much exposure but ultimately you want the competive exciting fights which IMO have not been broadcast except the ones mentioned. Seeing Fury and Galahad being spoonfed opponents to me isn't interesting. In fairness Eubank has been matched very well for his first year as a pro.

I was actually hoping for Hatton Promotions to join aswell but remains to be seen what they are doing now.

Good news for allegedly they should try and pick up Eubank and Fury if they then got Audley they would have a great run on HW boxing and Eubanks name.

Seems like a rumour started by Maloney and Warren who both have vested interest with their own TV deals which reach no where near the figure that Fury was getting, in fact Fury's audience figures don't just dwarf what Loaded and allegedly get seem to have helped make Fury a household name.
