Any idea on the opponent? isnt Leo Santa Cruz moving up to Super Bantamweight? i know Vusi Malinga(who McDonnell was meant to be fighting in the Eliminator) is fighting an Eliminator for the IBF Super Bantamweight title this weekend

Very good fight, I've been following Ceja for a while and he hits as hard as his record indicates. Should be a fantastic fight.

Jamie McDonnell has been handed a shot for the vacant IBF world bantamweight title in his home town of Doncaster in May.

McDonnell will face unbeaten Mexican Julio Ceja at Doncaster Rovers' Keepmoat Stadium on May 11, after Leo Santa Cruz made the title available last month.
I'm glad that McDonnell's title shot is finally happening.

11th May

Ricky Burns vs TBA - Sky
Ola Afolabi vs Marco Huck - allegedly
Jamie McDonnell vs Julio Ceja - Loaded

Three British world title fights on three different channels.

There is going to be more than one major fight on at the same time isn't there?

I watched a bit of him on youtube earlier, not the best boxer, slightly crude and a bit slow but not the worse boxer either and seems like he legitimately punch aswell. Not just a padded record.

Ceja is very similar to Jose Gonzalez, who was or perhaps still is in the running to face Burns; powerful, but quite slow and technically flawed.

A very difficult opponent to be honest but I think he stands a good chance the home crowd is going to be influential and both deserve the shot if I'm honest. Will Ceja be too powerful for jamie through

He does look powerful on paper but Jamie as got a good chin he's never been down in the ams or pros and as never really been in trouble from a powerful shot he got caught with a beauty in the 2nd or 3rd round of the Jamoye fight but he recovered from it well and took the round in my opinion fair enough Jamoye probably isn't a bigger puncher than this ceja but he has a pretty good dig on him!!

Been a donny lad and knowing jamie I really hope he pulls this off and becomes doncasters first ever world champ :box: :bag:
