Thoughts ....?

Blackwell and Hall both small for the weight and Billy when opening up with decent acuracy couldnt finish the job ...dont get me wrong he is certainly a class act but does he lack the finish that could make a difference at top level ?

Hall mentioned the speed and nothing about power , Blackwell also didnt rate the power so I guess time will tell

Depends how far you think / want him to go. Euro level it'll be all good. Anything above that (nit-nuuuuu) <sound of failiure on family fortunes>

Frank W just mentioned him moving up and being a real handful...hmm, not sure he'd have the punch power at super middle.

I think today left us with a lot of questions regarding Saunders' stamina, power, strength and size, I'd also worry about his hands, I know they had been injured in the past and wonder if that's why he seems to lack power. I know Hall and Pryce are tough but Saunders was much bigger than both.

Didn't see tonight's fight but there were question marks about Saunders when he turned pro: he fought as a welterweight in the amateurs but was fighting above 160lbs as a pro. When he turned pro it looked as if he should be a weight division lower. That might be a factor. Not sure about now. Also when i last saw him, he needed to sit down on his shots more. He's still very young and I'm sure he can add some more power to game. He'll never be an out and out banger (punchers are born not made and all that) but there have been boxers who added power to their game after starting out as "light punchers". Gaining confidence to plant their feet and let the shots go. Junior Witter springs to mind.

Is it just me that thinks he's in the wrong weight class now and actually would be better suited to light-middle/ 154? He isnt the tallest guy and if you look at a lot of the 154 fighters he looks the same sort of size in height and stuff.

interesting response regards moving down if you check out the weigh in on you tube (ifilm london) he looks very tight to me at middle so moving down wouldnt be an option based on that (if i am correct)

But is he tight because of poor nutrition and lifestyle habits? If that's the case, he could easily move down. I've always thought he looked a bit 'soft' at middleweight.

Thought the exact thing when I was watching him last night. I think he needs to lower his punch output a little and sit down on his punches more, he goes all guns blazing from the outset.

Still a young pro so loads of time. I hope they don't rush him, he should IMO stick at Brtish level and learn his trade a little more before going after European/world titles. Let him defend his belts for the next 12-18months. Something tells me he will want to push on but this could be his downfall.

I think he lacks power but I also think a combination of bad hands & the blazing speeds makes his punches less powerful.

I think that he said that he would make a couple more defences, therefore he would be the first traveller to own the Lonsdale belt outright. He certainly needs a few more learning fights before he moves up, but listening to him in interviews he knows that.

I liked the look of John Ryder on ringside - i think the BJS fight will be very good indeed.

Valid point, he looks softer on the night but looked very tight at this weigh in in particular and we can only guess on how he made weight but it could be that he dries out based on how he looked at the weigh in which could also account for his fading in the later rounds.

He is still a very talented lad regardless and has many positive attributes that I would not want to sound like I miss !

He would be better as a ww IMO. He is very fleshy at middleweight. I don't think he goes past European level. He will look decent against poor competition but will come seriously unstuck the higher he goes. Super middle is insane, but as I don't really like him I'd like to see it.

He may not be a big banger but I think his defensive skills are underrated. Very good at slipping punches.

He's not exactly been up against offensive demons though has he? James Hare was good at slipping journeymans punches too.

I am a big fan of BJS ,but its clear to anyone with half a brain he should be fighting a weight or two below what he is now and not above .

He'd get done in by big, tall and broad supermiddles; the thought of Groves getting his hands on him half a stone down and he'll knock them cold; he's not overly fleshy but is not cut down like other high level boxers - he looks to have flesh to drop.

Agree he's super talented, which is why I worry he won't do justice to that talent because of his lifestyle choices. He needs to live like Bernard
