Who would win between these two Irish Light-Welterweights in their primes?

McCloskey for me on points, but thats just my opinion. Magee was a tough tough man.

Magee was mUch more than just a tough man, he was one of the best boxers to ever come out of Belfast. Only for his demons he would have eclipsed Hatton, the toughness just papered over the cracks.

I think Magee was one of the most underrated counter punchers of his generation. McCloskey throws shots from very unorthodox angles and I just feel Magee would have caught him with heavy shots and caused a stoppage.

Would have been a mismatch. Magee was a spiteful bugger with underrated skills and McCloskey just isn't that good. I'm shocked anyone thinks this would be close

Magee was a good fighter,but no way would he have eclipsed Hatton,take your Irish glasses off... Magee IMO would beat McCloskey late stoppage

I don't think Eamonn would have had a better career than Ricky.
When he had Ricky down in the first I really thought he would have won inside the distance, but as we all know, sometimes its having that mental strength to go on and grasp the prize, as much as it is the physical attributes.
I always got the impression that Eamonn's confidence wasn't as strong as we thought behind the mask.
When he was on top confidence flowed. When it got tough he seemed to go into his shell.
One things for sure though whenever I saw him at weigh ins etc one glance from him was enough for me !

I think Magee would have hit to hard and to crisp for McCloskey and took him out in about 5/6 rounds, If its true that he never trained properly for Hatton then id say Hatton was lucky as im sure Eamonn would have stopped Hatton aswell, For me Eamonn Magee was a very very underated fighter that should of done so much more but for some reason didn't quite get there

that probably had a lot to do with the fact that he was "allegedly" drinking all through the training camp and "allegedly" drinking the days before the fight as well.

Yeah I remember seeing him drinking in a bar in Belfast the afternoon before his rematch with Paul Burke. Didn't do him any harm that time. Though I remember asking someone in the know about his chances at world level and got the reply "you can't win world titles drinking whiskey and taking Es".

I always thought Eamonn had the tools but he had a pretty decent career in the end.
