He wasn't world class and neither was chilemba, boring fight

Bottom line is he got beat by a younger less experienced champion in his back yard. He will never have a better chance than that. And by his own admission Cleavely is the weakest champions at 175 (I personally disagree)....but if thats the case and he lost against the weakest champion infront of his own fans hes got no chance of ever being a world champion or true world class.

If he showed half as much initiative during the fight as he did before and after it he may have snatched a decision win tonight.
Bellew should be thankful he didn't get to Dawson because he is Euro level at best and will get smashed if he gets past Chilemba and meets anyone at the top level of the division.

i too thought tony was lucky to draw tonight, the guy he fought had a difficult style, fast reflexes and won a lot of rounds in succession on my card.
Bellew simply didnt get his shots off, he s got a great range of punches but there was no fluidity there, nothing was flowing and he didnt appear as relaxed/comfortable as the other guy.
But lets not start writing him off yet he is still learning, he gave cleverly a great fight and will learn from this fight

world class are you having a laugh? all he throws is a one two and when in close just tries to hook his was to a k.o. he needs to add more to his game to get to the next level if you ask me.

Below the top guys, light heavyweight is lacking in quality these days ( even a couple of the title holders are far from world class ) so Bellew will probably land a shot at some point.

Keep well away from Dawson and co though. Wouldn't even be competitive.
Cleverley is clearly the man to target at light heavy. I think we will see Bellew fight him again at some point.

bellew is world class simply because LH world class is shocking these days, the fact a man nearly 50 is still champion clarifies this. current LH world class is not too far above what used to be considered british/commonwealth title level. Neither bellew nor his opponent looked top drawer last night, and im a big tony fan. I cant think of 5 decent shots that landed for the full 12 rounds. yes chill was slippy but come on, put your foot on the gas!!

Bellew is a decent Euro level fighter, never has been world class and never will be world class. As someone pointed out, the division is serioudly weak, so your average guy will get a shot at some titles over a period of time.

Fights like this will develop him. He was unimpressive but he just about seemed to do enough against a technically more accomplished fighter. You learn from these fights. A lot of doom and gloom merchants on these forums. Look at Bernard Hopkins early career. He was pretty much a brawler who with good mentoring and learning evolved.
