Who takes this battle of big punching Colombian jr. welters?
Urango for me. Better chin.
I don't know what became of Torres, who basically fell off the map once the third fight with Holt was scrapped.

Good match-up of two fighters who were always a bit below the elite level. Torres' would take several rounds with his greater speed and power, but I think Urango's consistency would win out. It doesn't hurt that Urango's chin is better as well.

I think Urango would either stop Torres late or win a clear cut unanimous decision.

I agree with the both of you. Urango would get him late or win by decision, though it would be a rough early going. It would be a solid fight between two top-10/20 level guys.

I always thought Torres would make more of himself after the Cotto fight because of his nice combination of handspeed and power. All I remember after that were his fights with Holt.

Urango was a solid fighter(and still may be) for awhile and unusually buff for his size. He started fighting some decent fighters pretty early. I remember his fight with Arnaoutis which was a barn-burner and his vicious KO`s over Eason, a then touted prospect, and Vilches. Surprisingly he is only 32. He has fought a pretty high level of opposition for quite awhile.

Torres also fought Arnaoutis on the Pac/Morales III undercard; that's where he won his title.

Yep he did better against Arnaoutis too. I personally had Arnaoutis winning over Urango...don't remember the exact score, but they ruled it a draw.

Urango's best performance to me was the Randall Bailey fight. He got the hell knocked out of him by Bailey's Sunday Punch and he still got up and stopped him. Most any other fighter wouldn't have stood up after that shot from Bailey. So say what you want about Urango's ability (which leaves a lot to be desired), there's no question of his toughness.

I was shocked Alexander stopped him.
