Luke Campbell has announced he'll make a decision in 2 weeks time about what his future holds.
He's been in talks in America and taking advice off Carl Froch and David Haye amongst others and by what he says seems to be leaning towards the pro route.

Maybe he'll go pro and have his debut on the Haye bill, or could it be on the Froch card but that may be too soon. It's all guessing at the moment, but why would he look further that McCracken for a trainer?

Big news next week he said on twitter!

He's got to be turning pro hasn't he? I can't see him annoucing big news to say he's staying in the Am's.

Booth and Haye? or McCracken and Hearn? Or Warren?

matchroom have some sort of announcment next week so probably that!

Out of all of them, I would prefer Luke to stay amateur.

My prediction is that he will stay with his amateur coach. Isn't it now a Pro-Am gym?

Yes. Very, very good gym, too. Luke would be mad to leave Hull. Big star there.

I'd say the fact he is the Big star in Hull is the reason to get out and train elsewhere, he can always have his fights in Hull. My way of thinking is he needs to be in a busy gym with high class boxers training alongside him, get the best sparring he can. Without knowing much about his gym, i don't know if he'd get that top class sparring in Hull.

True, but i don't know about depth of talent there. Its ok getting people in to spar, but be good to be in a gym where there is top class sparring on tap.

Sometime though moving away from hometowns doesn't work for boxers, there are alot that have struggled with living in London etc. Frankie Gavin has said he just didn't get on with moving away from his homebase. And of course Darren Sutherland struggled terribly with the weight of expectation and the move.

It seems that Luke has done the sensible thing and not rushed any decision, he's earnt some good money out of his gold medal with various TV things, and now see's it as the right time to make the next move.

I sparred him many years ago couldn't hit him for Few rounds and only did when I jumped on him and tried bashin him up but I ended up comin off second best ha great lad a wish him well

There is such a big divide between the style of international ams and pros at the moment (will change by next olympics with revised scoring and removal of headguards). Most of 'team GB' boxers have the amateur style down to a tee, and none more than campbell. A tall awkward southpaw - quite a few of those do well in the ams.

Don't think his style will work well in pro's so if I were him I'd stay amateur. However too soon to write him off and he could take his time and adapt.

I don't know why, but I would just rather he did not turn over. Another Gold would mean so much more than what he will achieve as a pro, in my opinion. He could carve out a legacy solely from amateur boxing, which I believe he is made for.

I agree with you Micky, there's a very good living to be made out of staying Am, the pro's is such a risk and the rewards can be great for the few, but not many make it to the very top earners.

Its hard to know what Campbell will look like as a pro, his southpaw style will be a bonus , but its about the punching power and excitment as a pro as well.

There's no certainty staying amateur though really; lots of high level competition and very talented opposition eery step of the way. If Luke goes pro at least he gets the first year or so to acclimatise the new distance v lesser skilled boxers so less risk of being knocked off.

Why stay amature? he's won an olympic gold the pinnacle of the sport. Anyway professional boxing is where it's at IMO.

What weight you think he'd be as a Pro? He is Massive, no way he'd do Bantam as a Pro.. Feather maybe? i could see him in a few years as a Light Weight...

Thats pretty impressive if he held his own with you a few years ago

Isnt Mick Bromby his Amatuer coach(club wise) i cant see him goin any other way Than Bromby/McCracken partnership &Pretty Boy Hearn as the main man....Id love to see him sign for a rival promoter,Matchroom isnt the be all&end all

He has been with Eddie Hearn at the past few Prizefighters so it does look like the most likely possibility

We all know where hes going,just worry me once Froch loses...who has he got as main eventers? Brook&Bellew will lose&aint top of the bill fighters....these Top Ams,should give Matchroom a wide berth...
