Johnny Cangiano - "Bayonne Wildcat"

I am trying to help a friend find information on her fathers boxing career. This is all I know. His name was Johnny Cangiano - he may have gone by "The Bayonne Wildcat" . He was from Bayonne, New Jersey.
The only fight that I could find was in 3-16-1937 against Manny Tillman in Jersey City, NJ. It was a lightweight fight. He apparently fought some more but since I am not sure how to look these things up I need some help from this community and would greatly appreciate it. His family had his boxing records and they got destroyed and they have nothing at all left. The daughter was hoping to be able to pass something down to her grandchildren of her father for keepsakes. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Michelle

Though the name comes up under the "search" link here showing 1 fight- there might be two things to consider:
His amateur record (if there is one and especially extensive one) probably wont show up in the records here. He could have fought 50-100-150 amateur fights that you might have confused with a Professional record, and 2nd...
many fighters change their real names to fight names for many reasons, especially in that time period. Sometimes they just shorten a name or copy one after a former champ, so maybe you can find out if he might of had a special "fight name".
These are only two suggestions I have. I sent this thread link to a very special man- The present President of the New Jersey Boxing HOF, who is one of New Jersey's Best Boxing historians Henry Hascup of Lodi, NJ. If Henry doesnt know-nobody does.
Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Thank you so kindly for your reply I actually didn't think I was going to get anything, but actually you have given some very good suggestions. What I am going to do is forward your suggestions to Johnnys daughter and see if she can come up with any suggestions as such. I greatly appreciate that not only did you answer my query but you took it one step further and contact a very important person that is "in the know" of the sport. Very kind of you and I know how much this means to Johnnys daughter. If she can give me any further information I will be posting on here again. Thank you again for your help. Michelle

Dear Mr. Hascup,
Thank you so much!!!!
You don't know how much this means to this family, they were absolutely heartbroken when they found out their fathers boxing records and memoribilia has been lost!!!!
I have asked the daughter to pick her siblings brains to try and come up with any other information they could. The only thing she said was this: the her father "Went under the name of either The Bayonne Wildcat or The Wildcat of Bayonne. But everyone knew he was Johnny Cangiano. He used his real name."
Thank you once again for the help!!! I love doing research, I missed one of my callings in life I guess. One is detective work and the other is cooking LOL..... if you find anymore information that would be great, if not then thank you again for all of your kindness.
Sincerely,
Michelle
