Don Broadhurst, Nathan Brough and David Dolan have been eliminated from the Felix Stam tournament. Damn, our boys get battered everytime they go to a european amatuer qualifiers, imagine what would happen to them if they fought in the olympics. We would be lucky to even get a bronze medal. :x

Did Amir Khan participate in this one? I haven't been following admittedly, too busy recently.

It's not looking good is it.

The european qualifying pool is way too hard, not enough places for so many boxing nations.

Just like Amir Khan would have a much better chance of a place in the asian qualifiers boxing for Pakistan... Although the asian former soviet states are very strong

Khan will meet Kashia from Georgia today. It was the same guy who beat him at the european championships. The fight will be boxed this afternoon.

Well ...hes been quietly hyped a fair bit. If hes as good as hes supposed to be your'd figure he'd come through these sorts of fights. Perhaps not.

To be fair though, he's only 17. The Georgian is probably about mid to late 20's with bags more experience at this level. But England always hype people up too soon, then they end up ruined because they were not as good as first thought, or money and ame ruined them. I predict that for Wayne Rooney, cos he isn't the most intelligent of beings.

Tony Davis and David Price lost though
Amir now meets the Armenian whilst Perkins unfortunately gets the outstanding Turk, Ulusoy.

quite right talent shoud be nurtured not dismissed.
We have just leanred this in rugby and cricket and its paying off.
Kids like most people respond better to constant encouragement not constant criticism.
Ok sure sometimes we all need a rocket up the ass but not continually.

he is fortunate that the tabloid press wont be interested in an amateur boxer and the Boxing press are always fair in their comments so he wont recieve the same kind of scrutiny that a footballer of his talents would have!!

Yes. all finalists qualify for the olympics, except in the heavyweight and superheavyweight divisions, there its only the winner that qualifies
