Like Jermaine Taylor and Lucien Bute?
They are gonna need to be able to do more than just box and move. They will need a high workrate and a solid chin and the level of skill they will need to outbox Carl is a lot higher than most in the division.

To be fair, he's certainly got the bolded bits. As to the stuff he said, unfortunately the lad falls short when it comes to two salient points, i.e. he's not a top fighter & I don't think he could box & move (well enough) to beat Froch.
As PR calls go it's not exactly "He'th Alecthander? He ain't no Alecthander, I'm a conquewor! I am Jack Dempthey, Thonny Lithton, I'm cut from their cloth, I'm ferothouth, I will eat his childwen, I am wuthless,.. Pwaise be to AL-LAH!...", either, is it?

I like Cleverly, he's good to watch, but he hasn't got anywhere near enough power to hurt Froch, and if he stood in front of him like he usually does he'd get knocked out for sure.

He went life and death with Bellew, that about sums up his chances against Froch.

Froch is probably pound-for-pound Britain's best.
Cleverley was handed his world title in dubious fashion and has defended against people well below his level. Let's see how he gets on against anyone of a decent standard before even thinking about his chances of beating Carl.
It would be brutal IMO. And fast.

Carl could destroy Nathans career handily

I stopped reading at 'Krasniqi is probably the best fighter I will have faced'
Which is the standfirst.

Cant blame Clev for trying to get a nice payday but Froch beats the life out of him

I actually like Clev, but his career is dirt nowadays.
His star was in the ascendancy on Sky, lots of exposure - and since then it's been a mix of lacklustre performances against bums like Karpency, and cancelled shows. The Froch angle is simply to get some desperately-needed publicity for himself, given the Kessler rematch is looming.
Obviously they have done the B-hop publicity thing to death, and now it transpires that a guy he handily beat in Murat, will be fighting Hopkins ahead of him.
The last couple of years should have been his strongest to date, but in reality they have been the poorest.

Totally agree. He was a real talent who seems to be withering on the vine. Real shame for him. I checked his age and he’s 26…I still thought of him as being 22-23…not a good sign.
He needs to be slowly upping the level of his opponents and fighting much more frequently.

Sub par opposition will hurt Clev in the long run.
People talk about workrate and chin but it needs to be educated workrate and his chin has yet to pass the test against top level guys.
It's just publicity seeking. I guess Clev could always drop a few pound and come down to meet Froch if he really fancied it.

I honestly feel that if these 2 were to go at it it would end in identical to the bute fight. I dont think Cleverly has got the power to get Frochs respect and froch would just come in with the same wild attacks that Bute couldnt cope with

I think that if you look at who Froch is matched against compared to Cleverley that the discussion pretty much ends there.
It is hugely disrespectful for this paper champ to even make a comment here. Step up or bugger off! But then this has been said for a while now, he has been WBO champ for 2 and a half years now for gods sake

Cleverly has (or had) everything in himself to make himself a fighter around the caliber of a Carl Froch, but i feel he has been let down on 3 fronts.
1. poor management and promotion, he was after the Murat fight primed to be the star of the stable, but was moved in a poor manner from then.... though im sure FW can't be blamed for the Braehmer fight falling through.
2. A trainer now below his station. His dad has clearly tried his hardest, but he can clearly take his lad no further and his developement has certainly stalled.
3. Not having the nut sack to realize or act upon these 2 issues.

Can't disagree with anything said about the Cleverly's embarassing title reign and Froch's clearly better record. But I bet Cleverly would be in a with a better shout of beating him than has been claimed. Though its an unpopular view I think Froch's talent/record is over estimated on here.

Cleverly struggled with Bellew, can't see him troubling Froch. Not because Froch is an awesome, untouchable talent but he's way out of Cleverly's class.

Discuss what? The purpose of the article is to increase interest in a Cleverly - Froch fight, not examine Carls technique
