Seems like the date keeps shifting. Last date I saw for it was May 2013. But obviously it won't be happening that quickly as it is already mid April.

Its all a bit vauge at the moment, the format involves 48 boxers in 4 weight divisions, featherweight, lightweight, welterweight and heavyweight.
Or they are talking about having it across 8 weight divisions, which would give it even more boxers.

And all the money raised from these promotions goes to the retired boxers fund, of course this will be after expenses for the WBC are deducted (cough, cough) , and boxers purses.

It will run over 40 weeks, and this from that most honest of men Jose Sulaiman.
“We are going to have all of the champions of every Continental Federation meet each other, plus the WBC Silver champions and the WBC International champions. We intend to have the first fight for say, $40,000 for the winner and $20,000 for the loser – it’s just an example. The winner goes to the next round and then he will 50 and the loser 25, the winner will go on to make 60 and the loser 30. The final champion will make 250 or more. So it’s very, very interesting. We are offering this also to other promoters. It will be very good for boxers, promoters, and boxing. I believe that this is one of the greatest programs that the WBC has had in its 50 years. It is the opening to the world with authentic champions of the Continental Federations affiliated with the WBC"

So thats about as clear as mud then Jose. I expect this to last a short time before it all falls apart and we are left wondering where the money has gone.

It is a cup competition with eliminator round , quater , semi and then a final - planned to start July 2013 and finish in April 2014 .

There are 4 weights and each one has a very high standard of boxer , to give you a few names pencilled in for the lightweights should get your juicees flowing :-

Daniel Estrada , Denis Shafikov , Emiliano Marsili , Dejan Zlaticanin , George Ashie

If the WBC pull this off if can be a major thing in getting boxing back to a sport watched and enjoyed by all , good luck to them.

For once the WBC are looking to do something that would be good

Its good in principle Steve and Damian, and i hope all the money raised goes to the retired boxers fund. But we saw all the problems with the super 6, with pullouts and delays between fights, how are the WBC going to do this with 48 boxers involved and with all the different promoters, managers etc trying to get there bit out of it.

I just see this ending up a bit of a farce.

If it gets boxers of a good level fighting each other in interesting matchups on a consistent basis im interested.
