Sorry most of you are probably a bit past this but I was just wondering if anyone knew of any good boxing games for the PC?

If I can't do it for real at least let me beat a computer opponent!!!

Good points: You get to beat Hasslehoff, Diddy, Sly and Arnie.

Bad point: The game is a pile of crap.

There is a boxing manager game that I downloaded off the net once, though can't remember what it was called.

"Boxing Manager" quite possibly.

You start off with some money and the idea was to build up a stable of fighters (real life fighters at that) and arrange fights, sort out their training etc. It was quite good.

I managed to get Jirov in my stable.

World championship boxing manager.......its made by the same people who made champ manager(footy)...but i think its pretty old....you can download it but it costs£££££££.......havnt got it myself.

Have a look for TV sports boxing.......its an old amiga game but it was the best boxing game ive ever played...you can hire and fire your promoters,train your boxer...fight..etc...

I do...but i have alot of time on my hands...I get a couple of jobs a year but get paid very handsomly for them....but im still skint :(

yeah depends on what markets you are in , I deal with the arab oil to the east so singapore / Japan all gone home by midday, Arabs weekend is thurs and friday. Happy days.
I have to work on some stuff at weekeneds tho as they are in. Any probs with vessels loading I get a nice early call on a sat (their monday if you see where I am coming from).

I don't remember the original boxing manager having real fighters....is that 100% right then? If so, I may try to download it.

Yes it definitely does, assuming we're talking about the same game that is.

It has a bit of a mix though. e.g. you could get people like Don Curry ...and also Naz... people of differnet eras and so on, but they were all bonafide boxers as I recall.

It was quite amusing as many wouldn't sign for an "unestablished" manager (i.e. you). Somehow Jirov did though and I did ok with him.

It got a bit boring after a while though...... especially when your stable star retires and all your left with is a Mathew Barney......

There is World Championship Boxing Manager (not made by the people who make Championship Manager by the way) and Title Bout Championship Boixing which is the old Title Bout board game on the PC. You can check out at http://www.ootpdevelopments.com.

i used to love this, takes time to produce someone succesfful. Alot of thought involved, but it's the championship manager of boxing games.

I downloaded World championship boxing manager today. It's not bad at all!!
It seems to randomly generate your stable of fighters at the start of each game (i ended up with Inge Johansson and not much else ).
It's made by the same guys who did Championship manager, so it's all stats, but if you can cope with that it's a good laugh.

Here's the disclaimer; When i say downloaded, what i actually mean is i went to my local computer games retailer and paid the recommended retail price. Illegally downloading games at the expense of large faceless corporations is a crime, and as such i would like to dissuade anyone from committing this most heinous sin.

Always a good way to whittle away time when you should be doing some work. The fact that it's all against human managers rather than the computer (so you can't just figure out the perfect tactic) is what makes it interesting, but it takes a lot of time to get into. Only takes 10-20 minutes a day to rustle up your fighters tactics, but at 1 fight per fighter per week, it's 5-6 months before you're fighting for titles.

HH over at BA used to play (in fact that's where I met him in an online sense) and I could be wrong but I think jamesmcdonnell did/does knock about on there. There have been (very) limited discussions of a private competition for boxing forum members as quite a few people seem to enjoy it but don't really have 10-20 minutes a day to spend (I just stop work for half an hour mid-morning and do it, the boss gets plenty out of me anyway).
