Heck I thought this was a thread about John Fury versus Henry Akinwande (btw does anyone have film of that fight?). I would venture to say that Tyson Fury would decision Akinwande, because when pressured Akinwande would fold or quit like he did against Lennox Lewis.

I'd take Fury.

I'll take Fury with reservations, though he could still improve some possibly.

Akinwande is realistically the UK's 2ns best all-time heavy. Ahead of Haye and Hide. Fury is still unproven and may end up in a heap at any moment.

I rank Haye above Akinwande.

I highly doubt that. I think Haye would've beaten him, and he's accomplished more already at HW IMO.

Accomplished more and a higher profile, yes undoubtedly. Actually a better heavy? I think that's open to interpretation. At least the Fury fight will show how Haye copes with a big, gangling heavyweight.

This matchup is can't fight vs won't fight. Akinwande was a good fighter, but we only remember him for one fight. Maybe Fury wouldn't scare hike like Lewis did, and if not, it's an easy win for him. Fury has heart but nothing else, whereas Akinwande could box, punch, and wasn't he also taller?

Akinwande had no heart and was exceptionally poor versus Lennox Lewis, one of the most disgraceful heavyweight title challenges ever.

In 1994 when he desperately needed to raise his profile he refused to accept Frank Bruno's fight offer, Bruno then the most famous heavyweight in Britain.

In hindsight it's really no surprise that Oliver McCall left him face down and quivering when they fought.

The beating Lennox Lewis and Evander Holyfield would have given him had he fought them is unimaginable. Any kind of offense launched against Henry and he fell apart instantaneously. No surprise he spent his career boxing B and C level men.

Yes, my mistake. Akinwande seemed freakish at the time, and I think that threw me.

Yeah, perfectly understandable, as I also viewed Henry that way back then.
