Peter Fury stopped by to be interviewed by me. We discussed the visa issue, the Cunningham-Fury fight, Steve Cunningham's complaints of illegal tactics & his meltdown on the show on Monday, and about his son Hughie and many other subjects of interest.

good interview as ever from Peter Fury although it does worry me a bit that they might be rushing Hughie who i think is a tremendous prospect but as a big guy needs time to mature physically.

Ill agree with this, Hughie needs circa 2 more years to develop his man strength and his physique, important he is not rushed. good opportunity to build up a nice 10-0 resume then start on the road to titles against the big boys.

Personally I think it is good that Peter wants his son as active as possible against third string competition, and after 10 or so matches, moves up in level. Like Peter was quick to point out, though, Hughie spars with Tyson and the same men that his cousin does, so he does have the same skill set and mental conditioning as Tyson does. From what I have seen of Hughie, he is more sharper, faster, and has tighter defense and greater accuracy with his shots. No offense to such men as EBU title holder Richard Towers, but I think in due time Hughie could beat that man in the near future.

Hughie has the maturity in boxing terms BUT the question is his physical maturity a 6"7" guy is not going to be at their full strength prior to 21 and doing too much training before that can be counter-productive too. I don't think there is anything wrong with him being active but I wouldn't be overdoing the training (especially roadwork) or pitching the opposition too strong for a couple of years at least. The comparison with Mike Tyson is a false one; he was a short stocky fighter of the type who mature physically earlier.

Am bit confused here, I was referring to his cousin Tyson Fury.

Peter Fury did say on the show, however, that he believes he can guide his son to a title belt in faster fashion than Mike Tyson did. It will be interesting to see if Peter Fury can indeed pull it off, but I think on the European level the kid will indeed win a British/Irish/Commonwealth/EBU type championship in a year or so. Call me crazy, but give it til the end of 2013, beginning of 2014 I think it will be Hughie Fury in that ring with David Price, rather than Tyson Fury.

I know what you said, my reference to iron Mike was that he is the youngest heavyweight champion a record Peter says Hughie may beat as i said i think its an error to push a big guy too hard too early as they mature more slowly. I don't doubt Hughie's potential but I would like to see it fully realised rather than rushed and risked.

I plan on having home come on one day and do an entire bare knuckle boxing show, and discuss his career in BKB, as well as his brother John and their cousin Bartley Gorman and Sam Gorman. I have a feeling Hughie's early career is going to mirror that of Mike Tyson. A lot of fights and a lot of early nights.

I have interviewed Jerry Gorman before, total class act. He told me he plans on competing on this level for a while, and then he will go into the actual pro contests. Fast fact, Bartley Gorman in the 1970s and early 1980s put on his own 'unlicensed' boxing shows and it was called the IBF.

I know mate , i am UK gypsy BTW , i was brought up with my father telling the tales of how good a man bartley was ,my older family knew the older Gorman family well when they was all first married and all travelling the country in trailers .

I loved the pregnant pause when you asked if Tyson Fury Himself has heard your Cunningham interview, I think you'd have cried if he said no!
