think you will find that the reason the Witter fight didnt happen was down to warren not Hatton.

Witter and warren had an acrimonious split recently so you get the picture. Frank isnt gonna give Witter a chance at the big time after that is he. Additionally Junior is contracted to fight for the European title in 2 weeks or so, the organisation and red tape to ge the green light for this fight would dhave been monumental to make in 48 hrs.
Witter probably knows this and used his press release to further take a pop at hatton and especially Warren and make it look like Hatton is running scared. I assure you Hatton is not scared of Witter..
I have no doubt hatton would have taken that fight to finally shut Juinor up Warren just wouldnt let it happen.
As for fighting mitchell I wish that would have happened but at two days notice it might have caused some ructions with WBA/SHOWTIME. and with Stewart also.
Basically it was all too late notice, and I put that down to piss poor management from Warren it was becoming obvious a week ago Pinto wasnt coming so why they left it til 2 days b4 is beyond me, and its freakin amatuerish.
Personlly I would have loved Witter to fight Hatton but it was not gonna happen in such a short time frame . Unfortunately.
Hatton now really needs to take a long hard look at who he is with Im sick of British world class fighters being reigned in by promoters.

I'm sick of this Danish pastry line. Pedersen is a decent operator - not the best in the world but certainly not the worst. The Witter thing simply could not have happened because of the reasons J outlines...and others. Too short a time.

Yes, Hatton will be too much for the Dane but he is not a bum. It seems to me that Pinto (or at least his camp) are the villains of this piece.

If I were Warren, no way would I take Witter on as a late sub. Witter has a very tricky slipperty style, and is a switch hitter, Ricky has trained for a totally different opponent, and it would be too much of a risk.

Add in the fact that Witter has just buggered off from Warren, and pulled out of the Pinto fight before that, and you are being monumentally naive if you think Warren is going to give Witter a crack and a payday.

As a late sub I have no problems with Pedersen, it's not like they had much notice.

having read comments by Ian /James and others Im becoming more content with the choice of opponent by the minute.
He has some decent names on his record even if at a lower weight. Admittedly he is a lightweight (cotto fights them all the time) but a the end of the day this is no Arthur / Kizza. We will get a great atmosphere, a decent length main bout, a good undercard and wicked top weekend so all in all. .......Bring it on.

While I agree putting Witter in on this occasion would have been difficult, it should have been Witter instead of both Smith and Rios, those are two occasions where Warren's showtime excuse do not hold up at all. I would never call Ricky a chicken but Warren is one and it's clear his intention is to make Hatton into Calzaghe mk 2.
Pinto was sold to us as being a highly touted prospect but reading the doodles opinions here and elsewhere it's clear that that simply isn't true. Dangerous yes, but not a name to get the fans across the atlantic drooling like it was made out to be, certainly not close to equaling the interest of the Tackie bout. It seems everytime Hatton's career gains momentum Warren lays down a rumble strip in front of him.

I think the fight after this is the key one. It HAS to be a genuine biggie, no excuses.

I think Hatton will fight Mitchell next, presuming Mitchell wins of course. Bear in mind that Gary Shaw of main events has just offered the fight for July..

Whats the odds on Mitchell doing just enough on Saturday....2 dodgy performances on the trott.Surely that`ll be enough for Warren...

At short notice Pedersen is acceptable if it was.

If I remember rightly, I informed Bennie weeks ago that this fight would not take place. That was a rumour, but as they say, there's no smoke without fire.

The rumour you mention, what reasons were given at the time that the fight might not take place?

There were none as such, just that the fight would not go ahead.

OK, you've got an excuse for a fight with Witter not happening, but there are plenty of other top-ranked guys at 140 he hasn't fought, either.

I can't believe people are actually making a guy who barely cracks the top 20 at 135 out to be some kind of world-class opponent for Hatton. That must have Fast Frankie Warren laughing all the way to the bank.
