Just bought tickets for this.

How does everyone see this going? I'm going for Price to box much more cautiously this time behind the jab and utilise his reach and height advantages to grind Thompson down and stop him in the second half of the fight. I really think what happened in the first fight was a bit of a freak and as long as Price doesn't get caught he should win this fairly easily.

Thoughts?

I think if he gets hit again, he will be in trouble. His chin has the potential to be worse than Khan's.

I think Price will sit back and work behind the jab and Thompson will be looking to do the same thing again and come out swinging leaving him open to counters. Price by KO in the late rounds.

I have a feeling that Thompson will knock him out again. I hope not.

I will reserve judgement on that. He has faced one crisis in his career, and was counted out! He needs to prove he has got it in him to come back from adversity. And it was certainly a freak shot, it looked like a tap. I have seen boxers do it repeatedly in clinches right in front of the ref and the opponent doesn't flinch.

i think he gets KO'd again. You don't just blast a guy like Tony Thompson out like Price has done with everyone else. I think he'll be pretty cautios and that mgiht not sut him, a couple of well placed shots from Tiger and i think it might be that. Will be rooting for big Price though!

The shot that dropped him didn't land on his chin. But if it did chances are it would have had the same effect.

People have been talking about his punch resistance since day one, and for good reason! I think Price has potential, but if he gets hit with a good shot then it's game over. That's a very risky position to be in. As such, I can't call this one.

Price has his resistance questioned because of two stoppages - the one to Cammarelle in Beijing when he was worn out and the one in the first Thompson fight.

Is it really fair to say that he can't hold a shot/has a glass jaw on that basis? He clearly hasn't got the punch resistance of an Ali or Holmes, but there are plenty of elite level fighters who have spent considerable time on their backsides and gone on to do okay and, lets remember, at heavyweight there is always the greater chance of a big KO.

If he makes the right changes in the gym - and that means learning to tuck up to reduce the impact of big shots - then he can come again, and I have to respect him for wanting the Thompson rematch straight away, but this is going to be a big ask for him. He will need to pick his shots carefully, work his way in with due care, and then pick his time to land the big ones. He can do it, but I'm not entirely convinced that he will.

It might boil down to who can go furtherest in the fight whilst taking the other mans punches, but what i wanna know is what happens if Price cant knock the tiger out ? thats what i am wondering :)
This is heavyweight boxing and surely some punch resistance is required for 12 rounder ?

I think if he stuns Thompson early, he goes all out for the KO so he doesn't have to get hit

I'm definitely in the "His resistance is poor" camp after the Thompson KO, but not so sure that it's as bad as it seems; I believe the ear bit played a part. Tougher fighters have continued and won with punctured eardrums, but on the other hand, I think Skelton caught him flush with a bigger shot and he didn't wobble. I don't think he's gonna hold a Deontay Wilder shot that he doesn't see coming, but I also don't believe he's going to turn into Bambi every time someone taps his chin. I see him winning this one.

Unless Price's team pay Thompson some extra money to take a dive, Price is getting KO'ed again because he's not going to KO Thompson and he's not going to be able to avoid getting tagged for twelve rounds.

Why don't you believe Price could KO Thompson? I appreciate that Thompson is a smart fighter who is difficult to catch clean but if Price does then I don't see Thompson being able to stand up to his power.

It's the 'IF' factor as you mention. Could Price KO Thompson if he caught him cleanly? Probably but I think he'd have to take too many risks to get that punch off.

price wins everyround in the fight very very easy then knocks him out mid round

fight will be like round one in the last fight where price was well on top

If anyone wants to argue that Price's punch resistance isn't bad, be aware that Thompson has hit Wladimir Klitschko square several times over their 17 rounds without knocking him down.

Wladimir has to be one of the most fragile heavyweight champions ever and has been down virtually every time he has taken a solid punch.

I don't think Price is going to be able to avoid Thompson landing good shots on him - remember he actually managed to outland Klitschko in their first fight before getting stopped.

Well, Amir has taken a few bombs off of Maidana and Peterson without folding so maybe its a touch unfair to say Price might be worse. Right now, believe it or not, Khan has proven to have a better chin out of the two!

Seriously though, where does he go if Thompson does him again? Any chance of a Fury fight will disappear.
