Corrie Sanders vs The best from South Africa

OK, there’s been a lot of Sanders talk going on, and I think that's good. But as a slight change lets talk about how he would have done against the very best from his own country. While there have been many top performers from South Africa in the past, I’d suggest we only consider those that peaked after the Sonny Liston title reign, which we all accept as the beginning of modern athletics.

While that does leave out some pretty accomplished guys, it also leaves us with a pretty solid list to compare The Sniper to. On their best days, how would Sanders have fared against these South African greats from the past and present?

Gary Player who was small but well conditioned.
Ernie Els who I often mistake The Sniper for.
Reteif Goosen, a current star who performs well in the spotlight.
David Frost, an often times forgotten performer from a few decades ago.
Charl Schwartzel, another who shows well when it really counts.
Tim Clark, one of my favorites and a solid journeyman.

This would be a 36 hole match play event played at Pebble Beach during the summer months.

And let’s try to keep this discussion serious and civil.

Player outplays Sanders on day 2. Player wins 5 and 4.
Els and Corrie battle it out nicely. Sanders has knee problems on the 17th on day 2. Loses 2 and 1.
Goosen has Goosenbumps thinking of playing the Sniper on Sunday. Doesn't show up for day 2. VonKaiser ranks Sanders ahead of Woods based on this.
Sanders has a lot of respect for Frost. Scores a hole in one on the par 4 first hole on the 2nd day, bogeys miserably all the way through after. Frost wins 15 and 14.
The other two I can't comment because I don't follow South African boxing that much.

Player was the best, Sanders would have no chance in hell against him.

And my guess is he fares only marginally better against the rest.

Spends a lot of time throwing big windbreaking bogies to no avail.

Can anyone justify why exactly Tiger Woods never tackled Corrie Sanders? I can't.

Woods ducked The Sniper.

I don't recall Phil stepping up either.

You're obviously biased in favor of the old timers.
