Being close friends with Bobby Gunn, he was quick to point out to me that when he fought this man (Martin Lopez) that his record was announced as being 34-5, not 3-4 as BoxRec shows. It does seem odd that a man in his debut would fight in ten rounders, or three fights later be fighting for his country's title, even if it is Mexico.

Anyone else have examples of modern day fighters with missing fights from their records?

As an editor, I can tell you that there are tons of fighters with incomplete records. There just are not enough volunteers to enter all the cards, not to mention verifying and knowing all the results of lesser publicized boxing shows around the world. It's always going to be a work in progress and incomplete but we do the best that we can to fill in the gaps.
