Limond makes his first defence of the commonwealth title he win against Eddie Doyle in June in Glasgow.

How do people see this one going? Prince has a similar record to Doyle very few winning fighters on it. Another early night for Willie I feel.

The Commonwealth title has fallen on real hard times. What's the point in it any more?

Very poor indeed. Limmond is capable of beating a much better fighter than this without risking too much.

In the Boxrec British rankings Limond is listed as number 7 at Light-welter, Eddie Doyle is at 20 at light welter and Prince is 27th in the LIGHTWEIGHT division and this is for the COMMONWEALTH Light Welter title !!! Lee McAllister would have been a decent match-up, and I suspect that'll still happen.
Limond will earn a few quid, Prince will earn a few quid, the promoter will earn a few quid, the venue will be full and the part-time boxing fans will enjoy a good night, but is it a Commonwealth title fight - I don't think so !!!

Prince is certainly a rather undeserving opponent as was Doyle. I think your right Mcallister will be next. There's a stack of young fighters deserve the chance to fight for a title even if this particular title is becoming a bit of a joke.

I'd forgotten that Limond had taken the Commonwealth title, had assumed when I saw this thread we'd be talking about the Scottish title at best. This is an abysmal match up. Other than getting pumped by Stuart Green what the heck has Prince ever done other than win the undisputed shite nickname belt?

The belt should be re named the british b team belt....that's pretty much who seems to fight for it a bunch of second rate domestic fighters. The only exception i remember in recent times was when Saunders beat highly rated aussie flatcher who had beat degale in the amatuers

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. How the "CBC" or whatever they are justify this one (and Limond's previous title fight) I have no idea.

No wonder most top class Aussie/Canadian/South African fighters don't bother with this belt. It's a real shame.

I expect nothing less from Tommy Gilmour these days,i respect what he,s done for boxing up here in Scotland over the years but he,s forever making mis-matches these days,Lee McAllister held 2 Commonwealth titles all in all for about 3 years and he only ever made 1 defence and i know he,s been injured and fought for the European but he,s still headlined a few shows against weak opposition in 10 round non title bouts

It's not worth the airfare getting aussies SA and Canadians in for this trinket

Limond won by UD in what was said to be a great battle. I thought Limond would have stopped him, had Prince down in the 1st.

everyone ive read who was there on FB said that Prince was the better of the two ? what did you think , i did notice at thw weight inn (from pics) that limond had to strip down, so must have been tight at the weight maybe who knows?

Just going by the reviews I wasn't there mate. The scores were fairly close. I wonder of they'd consider a rematch.

Surprised Limond struggling with weight he's only had a couple of meaningful contests at 10st.

Glad willie won but lets be honest the same promoter will walk in with the champion and the challenger for 3 title fights if willie fights Lee next that can't look good on Simon Block and the Commonwealth

Friends with both of them but Wully won by two rounds.
Mitch was busier but Wully was more accurate.
No disgrace in losing to Wully in what was Mitch's toughest test to date. he'll only learn and benefit from last night.
Give Wully credit for turning out another title win against possibly a hungrier, younger opponent.
Great crowd and undercard.
Good show all round.

Mitch Prince should have got the WIN last night his only real bad round was the 1st after that he out boxed out fought Limond who looked very tired after 4 Rd's and only real winner is Gilmour because both fighters sell loads of tickets and the under card was the worst iv seen

Prince should move down to light weight were he belongs

I'm not sure how it works billy but I think McAllister are under there own promotions but work under Gilmour's management and your right it doesn't look good and out side fighters cant get a shot at the title

your right there's no disgrace for prince but will Gilmour get him a fair shot at again ??
the crowd only woke up when the main bill came on the rest was boring or messy fights

Prince had already been dropped by Darren Askew and Lee Quinn. Limonds lack of power has been a problem before. If he had a bit of pop he could prob have finished Prince.
