For years now I have found the solo tache (tache without beard compliment) very disturbing.

Usually the choice of the military, police or Buftie boy, the solo tache is a complex animal. There is no logic behind it, it serves no useful purpose and surely must be a cover for some deep rooted sexual issues.

That aside, one rarely sees a modern day solo tache in the ring, especially in the UK. Are there any top ranked fighters who have chosen the lonely path of a solo tache? I cannot think of any.

John Conteh used to have a brillo pad tight cut modest trim version back in the day and Appollo Creed had a beauty, but he wasn`t a UK fighter.

Alexis Arguello had a slight porn droop tache, but again, he wasnae British.

Please put my mind at rest and confirm that no top UK fighters today have the solo tache. If by some chance there is one out there, do furnish me with his e-mail address or twitter account, so that I can solicit a harsh mail highlighting the error of his ways and put him on the path to recovery.

I saw Brett Fidoe on some show & he had one going on. On the international front Leo Santa Cruz was wearing one Saturday on the Mayweather undercard.

The thread was initially about the solo tache and it`s place in modern boxing. The left wing brigade have hijacked it and turned it into a discussion on anal banditry.

Lee Selby is a good call. It is a single tache, although very much in the Conteh style. It is not a full on squaddie half rat.

Both Selby's have got them! McGuigan and Paul Sykes used to have great ones.

Its only a matter of time until the Mersey side fighters return to their fashion roots .

It was indeed poor. Although I believe he had a slight beard compliment, so not a solo tache per se.

Right you are, I just checked. For some reason I remembered it as just the solo effort!
