The Klitchskos I sometimes feel have always been headhunters and never worked the body of their opponents enough. Also I felt JCC Snr seemed arked his upper body over too much when he through those sickening left hooks to the body.

i could never understand why ali didn't care at
all to block the frazier left hook by having his
right up there. i know it wasn't ali's style and
so on and so forth, but i still think it should have
been a relative obvious part of the strategy. he
ate left hooks all night from one of the strongest
left hookers ever ...

Maybe he didn't notice them until he was down? lol I've asked myself the same question.

I noticed that Corie Sanders seemed too interested in his golf bag.

Its a worldwide epidemic! The art of body attacks in boxing is shamefully slowly dying out.
Ali was notorious for not attacking the body, mainly because he did so many things wrong technically that he was never in the right position when inside to get bodyshots off. He was an awesome fighter and ATG but is responsible for a lot of failed boxing careers by people trying to emulate his style and getting put on their arse! :oo

I loved watching Tyson in his early years carving into the body, just like Frazier. More recently I used to go watch Hatton for the same reason, his body attacks were excellent.

Of the current fighters out there Tyson Fury is pretty effective when he goes to the body and has scored bodyshot knockouts against Scott Belshaw and Martin Rogan in his career so far. David Price recently took out Matt Skelton with a bodyshot in the second round in their British and Commonwealth Heavyweight title fight. Also Carl Froch was pretty effective in his body punching when he fought Arthur Abraham in the Super Six due to Abraham's high guard and took out Yusaf Mack with a body shot, which was only the second time he took someone out with a body shot in five years last time was against Tony Dodson back in 2007 when Froch was on his way up.

Also Marcos Maidana has a strong body attack as well and has a bodyshot KO on the slate. Also Lucian Bute can be pretty effective when he goes downstair as well as he dropped Brian Magee at least once with a bodyshot and also knocked out Librado Andrade with a pretty sweet bodyshot in their second fight. So the body attack is still alive.

Of the old timers Iron Mike was electrifying when he went to the body he really threw those bodyshots with bad intentions and he dropped Michael Spinks with one before the knockout and JCC Snr was bloody lethal with them as well, even though he was in his pomp in the late 80s to early 90s those bodyshots still make me wince even now.

Some are soooooo wide and reaching almost to your floating ribs. modern portection equipment reduces the effectiveness of body shots. Just look at the fights, pre 1985 a lot more victims of body shots than post 1985.
Agreed but the sweet spots below the lats or around the solar plexus are still freely available. Having worn them regularly I was always pushing it down as I found it hard to squat low or throw bodyshots when it rose too high. However as I type that I am minded to recall many a recent fight where the referee never admonished a fighter and lowered the protector to the legal line so you are probably correct! Some recent fighter's protectors were almost nipple height, esp some recent HW bouts!
