im ricky hattons biggest fan and hope he becomes world number one but is it just me or did he look weaker than usual last night? he just did not seem as strong,did anyone else think this?or am i looking for something that was not there?

He seemed strong enough to me. I thought that he looks to be a lot more lean from he got his diet sorted out. Strenght wise I though he looked strong. Maybe it was the fact that Pedersen soaked up so much, gave that impression.

On another note, I liked Hatton's use of the jab, seemed to force it out rather than use it as a range finder. Good to see these little things, he is becoming a very rounded professional and did the job well against the guy in front of him. Shame it was not Pinto, but this is boxing and its not the first time things like this has happened, nor will it be the last.

It wasn't a great performance, and Ricky took a while to warm up, and even then didn't look that sharp. It's no surprise really, after the week he has had.

I thought Hatton looked superb. Defence was tight, jab was good and his body punching as destructive as ever. His form was wasted on a guy like Pedersen.

people were just expecting him to knock him out in a couple of rounds

At best it will be Lovemore N'dou.

Ndou would be interesting as well, would be pleased enough to see that fight. Id love to see him in with Mitchell, I do believe Hatton has his beating. Weather we see it next is another thing, would be too good to be true

Reports suggest Hatton had a slight injury to his right hip, that was limiting the use of his right hand. Hence he was using the left to the body so much.

I thought Hatton looked a little less strong on the inside, he wasn't able to shoulder Pederson around or bull him in the clinches like he normally does, perhaps the hip injury made this harder for him, but I was a little surprised by this.

On a positive note, he cut the ring off superbly, his defence was excellent, and he hardly took any shots in return, his jab was also very impressive, a really bludgeoning shot which had Pederson reeling backward at one point.

Obviously this was against a blown up Super Featherweight, so there's no point getting too excited by this, but he still looked good

agreed mate, havent seen the video yet will watch it tonight but some of the body blows reverberated around the arena.
Think mitchell will happen now myself. With JC on the bill also. Jeez what a night that would be. Game on Ill be back up there for that.
Must admit though think my next foray to boxing will be the York hall, problem with huge arena's is sometimes ita bit like being a footie / Rugby match you know. People pissing about in wrong seats and standing up half the time. Beer like piss but that was expected sometimes you are herded around and loss of intimacy, but then you gain in the mad atmposhere. I can honestly say Ive never experienced anything like it at any sporting event (and ive been to a fair few big rugby / cricket and the odd fottball game.) when Hatton was coming in to the ring., the whole place just kicked off that will stay with me to til my last breath.
Nothing was comparable to that. Awesome. So a totally different experience to smaller hall boxing. Both have their appeals.

The atmosphere at a Ricky Hatton fight is something else, I saw him against Pendleton, and the roar of the crowd as Hatton came out into the arena made the hairs on my neck stand on end, I actually had a lump in my throat.

TV doesn't convey at all the amazing atmosphere at the MEN Arena when Hatton fights, it's a fantastic venue, and with a full crown it does feel like being at a football match.

Yeah, he suffered the injury sparring Liverpool's Paul Smith. Boxing News knew about it, but kept it quiet - only for Ian Darke to mention it BEFORE the Hatton fight. What if Pedersen had been watching that in his dressing room?

true bennie owuld have been a confidence booster mate wouldnt it.
Cant see it affecting the outcome though it obviously affected the way hatton was hitting.
Ive never seen him throw so many single left body shots.
They obviously worked on what punches caused the least discomfort, and it seemed the left body shot followed by a right uppercut .......tried it and did time and again.

Just thought it was unprofessional from Darkie. Pedersen could have been given a route to unlikely victory.
Talking of injuries in fights: Tyrell Biggs once suffered a dislocated shoulder in a fight with Jeff Sims. Biggs arm was down by his side and Sims kept going for the body on that side, and allowed Biggs to survive and win on points.
Sims believed Biggs had suffered a rib injury!
