how did lee purdy get a world title shot with his record
decent british level fighter but just shows how many stupid titles and how bad boxing is gone when his record gets a chance to fight for a world title

Nothing to do with boxing having plenty of titles. Purdy is a late sub and he wouldnt have got the shot any other way.

No, it doesn't. Don't overreact.

All the best to Lee Purdy on saturday, nothing to lose, all you can ask of him is to give it his all and you know Lee will, hopefully Devon Alexander is taking him lightly,id be surprised if he,s even bothered to watch any footage of Purdy, coupled with the fact that Alexander hasnt fought since October(i think?) theres a couple of things going for Purdy, but he has his work cut out,Lee,s probably got a punchers chance but against a slick boxer like Alexander who can happily go 12 rounds without engaging im not holding out too much hope plus Alexanders survived against massive punchers like Lucas Matthysse and Marcos Maidana so it aint gonna be a walk in the park for Lee
GWAAAAAAAAAN LEE PURDY DO IT FOR TOWIE :D

I wish Sky had done more to build it up,im sure if it was still Kell Brook fighting on saturday, they wouldve had at least a one off special

Brook would have had a significant chance of winning though.

Can Lee actually win this? He's 18-1 for KO?

Its like hoping my beloved Sheffield utd beat a team like Man U or someone like that, it probably won't happen but you never know!!!

Come on Purdy!!!!

Purdy seemed overwhelmed at the press conference, I am concerned that when he gets in the arena it will all hit him before alexander does and he will freeze.

That said I wish the kid all the best !

I think Purdy gets soundly jabbed to death and maybe they throw in the towel eventually.

My heart however, hopes he lands something spectacular and shakes Devon to his boots and he forces a stoppage.

But Devon is supremely fit, is a more sturdy fighter at 147lb and has grown into the weight class well. He can sting a bit with his own power and commands respect.

18/1 for the knockout is the only gamble i'd take on Purdy. Might be worth a cheeky tenner.

I think Alexanders abilities are being exagerated on here and Purdy's not being given enough credit for his, I don't expect this fight to be the formailty that most do. Lee's tough and fit, I'm hoping he can keep the heat on Devon from the off and see what happens down the straight, if Devon's taking this fight for granted he'll be in serious trouble

:bag: :bag: :bag:

COME ON LEE PURDY!!!!

Really hoping Lee can do us all proud but I just cant see past Devon being just too good basically. Devon is a couple of levels above and I think it will show. Best of luck to Purdy, give it some, you've nowt to lose and everything to gain :TU:

It's the Lynes fight that fills me with doubt. Purdy looked lost in there

If the only hope we have is a stoppage, I think it's fair to say Purdy doesn't hit as hard as Alexander's last 3 opponents so keep your money in your pocket. Purdy has no hope

Of course I'd love to see Purdy win but whilst Alexander is not elite, Purdy is still a few levels below

Will Purdy offer Lynes a rematch if he wins?

Hardly box office. This will probably play out like Chavez/Holligan anyway.

Yeah that's a worry stylistically, hope he's learnt some lessons from the Lynes fight

this will be devon alexanders easiest defence of his world title he will ever had,,,

this wont go six rounds and devon is not the hardest of punchers at the highest level,,

sport is all about levels and this fight is not two people fighting each other on the same level
