would anyone else like to see this letter steve collins claims he has from a wbo doctor advising him to pull out off the fight with joe calzaghe? i would love to see it cause all the people in the know on the sky show best of british didnt have a clue about this "ankle injury" including the man he was meant to be fighting,joe calzaghe.

I don't remember an injury to be honest, I remember him saying he was going to retire
if he didn't get his Roy Jones payday. If he did say he had an injury at the time - I can't
say I remember it - the overriding factor of ducking Calazghe was his big pay day with Jones
was at risk.

Who gives a fornicate? The only reason Collins didn't fight Calzaghe was the same reason why Calzaghe didn't fight Froch and the same reason why Froch would have no interest in a fight with Groves at this time. Don't understand why people have an issue with that. Calzaghe was just a kid at that time. It was a high risk low reward fight for Collins who couldn't have anticipated the significance of a fight against Joe being on his record. With hindsight I think he would have taken it, Collins didn't run from anybody.

Not true, wasn't Calzaghe mandatory? When was Froch ever mandatory for Calzaghe's belt? And since when was Groves mandatory for Froch's belt?

I thought Collins ducked the fight because he had blackouts in the gym?

Froch was made mandatory after Dennis Inkin pulled out for either the second or the third time and Froch had to fight some Pole instead.

At that point Joe had moved up however he never relinquished his Super middleweight belts and was eventually stripped.

Hilarious how people think Collins, who fought McCallum, Eubank x 2, Benn x 2, and was campaigning for a fight with Jones Jr was running scared from an unproven Joe Calzaghe before he was a big name. For Collins it was RJJ or nobody. Many fighters these days give up belts so that they can pursue big fights over their mandatories, it hardly means they are running scared.

if thats the case then why didnt collins say that on the show instead of making some bull shit excuse that he was in training to fight calzaghe but the "wbo doctor" advised him to pull out but calzaghe didnt even know what he was talking about when he said he was in training to fight him.

He probably did have some sort of injury and didn't have the desire to do it all again for a fight with Calzaghe. If he had beaten Calzaghe and Calzaghe did nothing afterwards the win over him wouldn't have done anything for his legacy.

i meant back in 90's when joe was the no1 contender

Groves will be mandatory challenger the next time the IBF order one.
