I see the fight date has changed. Frankie has gone nuts on twitter. Eddie get your signing on bonus ready!
This looks like a good proper fight.TopGun wrote:I hope Frankie has a good lawyer when he leaves his contract, he just retweeted this: -

I don't think Eddie would take him.TopGun wrote:Eddie get your signing on bonus ready!
There might a negotiation in order, but to suggest that Hearn just wouldn't take the unbeaten British champion is entirely ludicrous.brian13 wrote:I don't think Eddie would take him.TopGun wrote:Eddie get your signing on bonus ready!

Bellew, but not Gavin?
I like Tony but even he'd laugh at that.
I agree 100% I know Frankie comes on here and is a very decent lad but he gets 1000x sympathy and understanding and his fans have bags of patience; someone like Vassell gets fornicate all and he holds a full time job down while getting ready for very tough fights, let down etc. The World Championships were a long time ago and potential does wither if it's not used well. Denton could really get a scalp here; he's a live wire.handsofstone wrote:I fancy Denton Vassell for this one,he,s a good unbeaten champion, should have a lot more exposure IMO
Yeah i remember a few years back after Vassell beat Lee Purdy to win the Commonwealth title he started getting a decent run of headline shows on Sky and was looking good then im sure it was Samuel Columban he last beat, then he never fought because of Sky going with Matchroom i presume, then he was back defending his title against Ronnie Heffron on Allegedly and everyone had been building Heffron up as the unbeaten prospect even though Vassell was the unbeaten champ and i knew he would beat Heffron because Heffron quite similar to Frankie Gavin had been getting a lot of recognition coz of his Amateur days even though i can see with Heffron/Gavin theres a few things to work on if they wanna get past domestic levelpalooka wrote:I agree 100% I know Frankie comes on here and is a very decent lad but he gets 1000x sympathy and understanding and his fans have bags of patience; someone like Vassell gets eff all and he holds a full time job down while getting ready for very tough fights, let down etc. The World Championships were a long time ago and potential does wither if it's not used well. That could work couldn't it if he is trying to build a big home support for Kal Yafai whose from a similar neck of the woods.brian13 wrote:
Saying it based on the fighters he has that headline shows or the draw. He would have to put on shows in Birmingham with Gavin headliner.

Just a thought. but Britains only amateur world champ who is unbeaten British champ as a pro and who seems to sell all his tickets each fight might have other attractions to a promoter than simply getting home support for another fighter.brian13 wrote:![]()
I forgot about Yafai. But yeah, that would probably work. If he wanted to get big home support for Yafai.
is frankie on a wage then ? how much would that be ? i also think hearn would turn frankie away as he's not or never will be world class he'll end up a good european level fighterpalooka wrote:How's Vassell taken the news? When will the bout take place? If Frank has been paying wages every week/month for 4 years then Frank can't be all bad can he?
This is where I read about Frankie having a wage Darcy; I'm sure I read that he'd paid Kevin Mitchell weekly against purses as well; £500 quid a week would be £26,000 a year to keep them ticking over and then maybe having a bit to get to the side after fight time (twice or 3 times a year).bripez wrote:This looks like a good proper fight.TopGun wrote:I hope Frankie has a good lawyer when he leaves his contract, he just retweeted this: -

However, of course the promoter needs to balance the books, whoever he is.
FW has been paying Gavin's wages for the last 4 years for probably little return.
