How can you have it by a couple of rounds an then say froch won comfortably? He's losing it

Said in the 11th "froch has walked through everything lessler has thrown" - this was some 90seconds after frochs legs did a mini dance following a thunderous kessler shot

when are sky gonna get rid of some of these clowns they have as commentators,adam smith,jim watt and ian darke say some shite and half the time i havent got a clue what the fook their talking about,if your looking for the number of shots landed then say thats what your looking for but if your looking for the more quality shots then say so dont say oooh the quality is coming from kessler then say look at the stats froch landed so and so more. sky do something about it as im losing interest in your team by the week,the best thing they have done is bring in richie woodhall the best boxing commentator/analyst there is from these shores imo

He's not a commentator.

He's a shrieking cheerleader, without a semblance of impartiality.
He doesn't even pretend that he's not one-eyed, which means he skews the fight for the viewer according who he wants to win.
It has nothing to do with reality.

Bellew v Chilemba (1st) was much the same rubbish too, that I've come to expect for every fight.


In fairness, his co-commentator wasn't much better.

Turn the sound down for a more accurate picture.

Problem with Watt is he gets one thing in his head and that's it for the rest of the fight, he just tends to labour the point.

Sky could do with updating their commentary team methinks, I really like some of the younger guys coming up but they only seem to use them sparingly.

Jamie Moore does a great job can't understand why he isn't he doesn't get much work with them, also Richie Woodall,

I don`t think Jim Watt is too bad. If you want bias, you should try watching the fight with Danish commentary. They make no secret at all about wanting their guy to win and actually scream "Jaaaaaaaa" when he lands a decent shot.

In the Danish papers today Kessler is quoted as saying that he should have knocked out Froch in the 11th. It reads that he said to Froch "I should have knocked you out in the 11th but I didn`t have the energy to push it" to which Froch replied "I know, you should have"

I didn`t think Froch looked that bad in the 11th. He took some shots but wasn`t close to being finished. His legs gave way a little, but he came straight back.

Some points:

The Danish commentators, speaking Danish, would be for the Danish market.

Sky uses Jim Watt as a commentator in international broadcasts in English.
Thus, it goes to certain international audiences.

You clearly haven't watched a fight with non-brits when Jim has been cheerleadin... er, commentating. (assuming, I do see you're in Norway.)

It really is embarrassing.
No one doubts his passion for the local man, but that is not what he is employed to do.
He is employed to give knowledgable and unbiased commentary on what is happening in the ring, not what he hopes is happening.

He is supposed to be a commentator, not a rabid one-eyed fan.

As for the Danish papers, I'm sure they have their equivalents of The Sun and its ilk...

You can tell when fighting someone if you have them hurt when you hit them and the same when you have been hurt from a blow - the fact Froch started to quickly get on the backfoot (the only time in the whole fight he did) was the biggest indication - interestingly on Friday Fight Nights ESPN the fight went exactly as Teddy Atlas called it, even how both men fought their fights

Did anyone see the interview with Jim Watt immediately after the weigh in?

He started with "The weakness which Carl does have..."

At which point Carl appeared right behind him looking non too pleased!

I agree with the comments about Jim Watt though, he's been the same for years.

if there is one thing that is really unforgivable for anyone calling a fight, it is to be
talking about something other than what's going on in front of you while people are
hitting each other. it's like watt has this speech memorized and he has to get it
out even if it is the opposite of what is going on right in front of him that 2nd.
when the bell rings, focus on the fight.

He didn't even wobble, his legs crossed for a second then he kept fighting. I never did an Amir Khan type panic

I don't have Sky, but I remember Watt from his days on ITV. Interestingly, the issue I had with him back then was that he was perpetually on the fence. The ref could be counting over a fallen fighter and Jim would be saying "Of course, it's too early to separate the fighters at this point; anything could happen and there's nothing in it". It sounds like maybe he got some feedback about that!
