as the question says two boxers same name fought each other for the lonsdale belt who are they...........
it was during the 80's
well done craig it was pat doherty vs john doherty for the super feather weight title "johns" real name was patrick but he had to change it because there was already a pat doherty

The first one that springs was Chris Edwards from Stoke fighting Paul Edwards for the British Flyweight title but that was somewhere around 2010-2012 thoug.y

Could it be a fighter who had their named change.... e.g. Michael Gomez vs Michael Armstrong (I know that fight didn't take place)... I cannot think of a real example, but maybe thats the path stevedoc is looking at.

Odd that he had to change his name, promising Puerto Rican flyweight Johnathan Gonzalez actually debuted against someone with the same name...in fact there is another Puerto Rican prospect with that same name!
