This is the kind of question only Boxrec posters would think of in the current climate of Corrie Sanders love. For the record: Sanders by decision. Sanders is too big, too strong, threw straighter shots than, say, Baer did, may have been KOed a few times but really did have solid whiskers. Braddock is a feel good story but I think Sanders tries to KO him early, fails, and then just coasts to a victory.

Braddock was not a bad fighter, pound for pound a better fighter than Sanders.

But really Braddock was a LHW. And Sanders a good sized HW.

Let's put it this way, (so I can avoid a direct answer.) if Baer was facing Sanders on that night, Baer would have continued on as champion.

Styles....(and luck) make fights.

A good "fringe contender" doesn't beat a prime John Henry Lewis. I also don't see how he's over-rated. He's almost always described as simply a feel good story who got lucky facing a Baer training on sex. If anything he's under-rated. Not an all-time great, but as seen you don't need to be an ATG to beat Sanders. Give me the better schooled Braddock by knockout, who despite being a small heavyweight had enough power to hurt Sanders.

He did floor Louis, and Beat Baer and Lewis. And I'd say the term "fringe" applies more to Corrie.

Hmm, let's look at accomplishments. Both pulled big upsets over top HWs in Baer and Klitschko. However, other than Wlad, there doesn't seem to be any other wins over world class HWs on Sanders resume while Braddock also beat Lasky and Farr and that's not even looking at the guys he beat when he was a LH like Slattery, Griffiths and Latzo, or his win at HW over the ATG LH JH Lewis.

Despite the large disparity of in ring accomplishments, I still think this is a virtual toss up. I'd expect it to be mostly Sanders early on with Braddock taking over midway in the fight as Sanders slowed down from the pace. If it's a 12 round fight it would be a very close decision, if it's 15 rounds I'd expect Braddock to win a comfortable decision, although that might not be fair since Sanders never had the opportunity to fight a 15 round fight.

The one thing not many people are discussing is Corrie Sanders performance against ex-cruisers and light heavyweights (which realistically Braddock was). Against Bert Cooper, Carlos De Leon, Bobby Czyz, Johnny Nelson, Bobby Czyz, and Al Cole, only one of those men made it out of the 3rd round, and that was Nelson. Nelson might be the closest thing to Braddock that we can compare to physically IMO. Anyone know if there's a video on the internet of this? Other than torrents, I mean.

that's how i see it, pretty even, competitive fight. not
sparkling skill, but a lot of hard work and punches meant
to hurt. could go either way. the reason i raised the topic
was actually that from the footage i know the two do not
seem very different in style and career wise there seem
to be similarities too. both being regarded as second tier,
but both being able in their prime to make a night difficult
for almost everybody.

i think braddock's better preparation would eventually give
him the edge, but if you look how sanders gave vitali for a
few rounds all he could handle you know that this guy could
punch ... and take.

I don't think 15 would help Sanders.
