i liked the idea of the super 6 but thought it would work better on a straight knock out basis using 8 fighters over 3 dates having quarterfinal semi final then final but guaranteeing each fighter 3 fights so if they get beat they could still fight in the other shows on the undercard. eaddie hearn said he was thinking of some sort of super 6 involving the uk lightweights but with 8 he could use some of rees crolla mitchell mathews flanagan murray coyle cardle munroe walsh gethin harrison it wold be great for british boxing and hopefully get rid of prizefighter!

It's a good idea, but politics mean it won't happen.

Plus finding 8 fighters might be difficult. Harrison is making another trip to Spain, Gethin has a world title eliminator on Friday so that's 2 out already.

That leaves:
Rees
Crolla
Mitchell
Mathews
Flanagan
Murray
Coyle
Cardle
Munroe
Walsh

Cardle shouldn't be anywhere near those fighters at this stage of his career and getting Kevin Mitchell in the ring isn't easy, it's 3 years since he lost to Katsidis and he's only fought 3 times since. Using the 8 left is possible, but I don't think Derry has 3 tough fights left in him, one more defeat for him and it's the end of the road. I know he's only 29, but he's been in a lot of wars and has been stopped 7 times. I also think Crolla, Rees and Munroe might struggle with 3 hard fights in a row. Murray would also need a couple of tune up fights before and I'm not sure whether he'll be able to make lightweight when he returns.

So, it's a good idea, but due to politics and a lack of fighters, plus any potential injuries during the tournament, it would be very difficult to pull off.
