Michael Hunter and Mark Payne meet shortly for the vacant British super-bantamweight title in Hartlepool. They met before in May 2002 at the London Arena. Can anyone remember the fight and how it went?

It was on the Hamed vs Calvo show - I didn't get the PPV so I can't tell you, just reminding the readers who may have been there (or got the PPV).

I was there Bennie. It was first fight on and while I am staunchly pro-Hunter I have to admit that Payne had a fair bit of success early and it was ALWAYS competetive. Caught Micky flush a few times and looked very tidy until Micky began to get to him with his jab and some nice right hands over the top from the third or fourth. In the end Hunter was just busier (there are NONE fitter at 8st 10 if he prepares properly) but admitted to me after that he was very impressed by Payne. Can't wait for this as it should be a cracker and have a balcony ticket going spare (£30 sovs with a double JD thrown in by yours truly for anyone who fancies making the trip North).
PS - Could any potential Payne backers give me a PM and I will try and sort something out with Betfair or Betdaq about pricing the fight up).

I was also there and Micheals fittness saw him through though Payne never really looked like getting his nose infront
