You'd have thought Gazo would've gotten a bigger build-up as a former 154lb champ. Apparently, everyone else knew he was completely done at this point. Duce, footage of this particular fight is pretty hard to come by. Any reason you suppose why?

Eddie Gazo got 'big fight purses' to defend his WBA Championship in Japan and South Korea against
'lower tier fighters'.
Eddie was supposed to defend his 'WBA Championship' against the deserving #1 WBA-ranked Ayub Kalule
in Januray 1978 - but they 'finagled' their way out of that bout with the help of the 'corrupt' WBA, and
signed to face South African - Gert Steyn in Bridgeport, South Africa set for February 1978 and for
a crazy fight purse of $200,000 instead.
Unfortunately, Eddie broke his right hand 1-week before the bout, the fight was postponed.

Against Thomas Hearns. Eddie was floored by a right hand less than 1-Minute into the bout.
Got up, and was smashed by a few lefts and rights, before Thomas drove Eddie through the ropes with
a left hook, and '2' big right hand bombs.
Result = KO 1 @ 2:41
Asked why he took the bout with Thomas Hearns on 'short notice' and in Detroit.
Eddie responded.........."$50,000 in Detroit beats $2500 in Nicaragua"

At least Gazo had a good grasp of economics.

Until the Sandanista's overthrew the Nicaraguan Government in July 1979 and
confiscated everything that Eddie had.
Two Houses, a Farm, '2' Mercedes Benz cars, his Jewelry and his Bank Account of 600,000 Cordobas {$85,000).
That was serious 'change' back in 1979, especially in Nicaragua.
Too bad for him.
How much did Arguello lose?
