British cruiserweight contender Lee Swaby will now face Atherstone's Mark Smallwood at the Octagon Centre in Sheffield next Tuesday (April 20).
Swaby was originally lined up to face Zimbabwean journeyman Hastings Rasani on the bill, recently bombed out inside a round by David Haye. But Swaby wanted a better fight and gets one. Smallwood, whose record stands at an impressive 19-2, had been due to face Leeds' Denzil Browne till Browne was injured in a car accident.

How does this show up Haye???

If Haye had seen Swaby KO Rasani in a round I could hardly imagine Haye choosing to fight Rasani either.

After the fight Haye stated that Hastings was a very limited opponent but fellt he needed a match as he had not fought for quite a while.

While Haye swung a bit when fighting Rasani I feel far too much was made of it. Haye usually picks off opponents with well selected shots and I believe will continue to do so.

I can't wait for Haye to step up in class, I think he is going to be one of the most exciting fighters ever to come out of Britain 8) . Does anyone know why Haye Vs Swaby was postponed ? or if it is going to be re-arranged?

The difference being that Swaby has had 33 fights and Haye has had 9

Yes I agree mate, we could be in for a fun ride with Haye over the nect few years.

And it was no great shock when the talk of the Haye V Maccarinelli fight died down. I can't see them fighting anytime in the near future IMO. Maybe if one loses and needs a quick route back by facing the other.

agree mate, its far too soon in Davids career for him to thrown in with the likes of Enzo, lets not expect too much too soon. I would expect him to fight someone of Enzo's calibre til nearer 17/18 fights of which he has only had half. While I totally undersand your enthusiasm for such a fight, mouth watering as it is it wont happen for 2 years I dont feel.
What Haye needs more than anything is rounds, the dilemma being the calibre of opponent is not capbale of withstanding his punch power. Its been pretty well covered in this site his blatent lack of defence and he needs to work on this in the ring, on fight night, to put all the hours of practice into effect when it matters.
So a solid hard chinned journeyman is what is needed, I asked a quesiton of who not so long ago and someone came up with Paul Bonson (think it was benny) and yeah he looks the type to help Mr Haye gain some much needed ring time. One thing is for sure fighting the likes of Rasani doesnt do anything for him which i largely put down to Haye's quality and potential.
