5 and soon 6 fights in about 10 to 11 weeks is excellent

he has his hands real low right now when on the offense, but the fact he goes to the body and looks well balanced makes him a promising prospect

Don't think he'll beat marciano's record is he steps up in comp after 20 fights... he needs to straighten his shots and make the arcs smaller...

hughie Fury is not a mature adult yet when he is he will be a serious prospect the question is will they protect him enough whilst he is still maturing.

A 'match' like this does nothing for Fury and does nothing but harm to the sport in my humble opinion.

Seriously, if you saw something OTHER than an incredibly out of shape tub of guts being smacked about by a much bigger man, I'd be curious to know what that was.

It's one thing building up a fighter's record but give me a break.

Neither is his cousin.

People are so harsh. The fighter he fought has went the distance with Martin Rogan who has. Been at decent British level.. Hughie needs to be taking the right steps he is only 18 and still maturing.. I would like to see him in with someone like Sam Sexton or John McDermott. He would struggle to get them out so quick and would be good fights for his development.. He is far better than Tyson and if he is managed correctly will be a World Champion

I like the fact that Hughie Fury is willing to learn, is ambitious & wants to fight regularly. He's got tremendous handspeed too, which is always a good thing, but he's far too fleshy at the mere age of 18, so goodness knows what he'll be like when he's 25.

I look forward to seeing how his career progresses, but he absolutely has to lose some weight & his stance needs some work too.

They have offered Gregor Tony a fight which would be a big step up at this stage of Hughie's career

Fighting at this level is fine for Hughie at the moment why go in against someone dangerous when you haven't even stopped growing? They need to take it easy with this kid or he will not reach his potential.

He's only had 5 fights, so what do people expect?

Unfortunately, boxing needs journeymen, bums & taxi drivers, otherwise fighters turning pro would be getting slaughtered in their first bouts.

If Hughie is still fighting this level of opposition in 10 fights time, then I'll start to worry.

He's being given a similar start to Mike Tyson. He's getting the equivalent of some sparring in, getting used to fighting in front of a crowd, building a reputation and a record. When he comes to bigger fights, he'll be less likely to choke because he's had to do it week in week out. Remember how utterly confident Tyson looked against Berbick despite only two or three years experience? That was part off why.

I really like the look Hughie. Definitely some talent there.

Got a nice jab but his left hand is far too low for a heavyweight. No way will be he able to get away with that when he fights people who are going to hit him back.

Good he is being kept active will be interesting to see how he progresses.

Big fan of activity in the early years of a boxers career with a gradual movement up in class at the same time. Ideally 8-12 fights the 1st year is a great start nowadays & drop it down 1 or 2 fights each year moving forward as you move up to bigger & better opposition til your around your 4th-6th year pro then you're ready to make a run at a title (assuming you have proven yourself capable of contending for a title in the first place obviously).

Hennessy has done, and is doing a terrific job with Tyson Fury, so Hughie is in good hands. Let him have a dozen fights or so and then they can start taking things more seriously with his opponents. He's just a baby in heavyweight terms.
Hennessy knows what he's doing...the Hearns and Warren haven't a clue with heavyweights and Maloney has come unstuck with Price.

Like Tyson, enjoy the ride, filter the smack talk, and appreciate the fact we can view it for free on Ch5.

Well dress it up any way you want, watching someone punch the shite out of a sack of spuds is NOT a fight.

In fact, imagine if what you saw had happened, not in a ring, but in an alehouse car-park..and the bizzies arrived.

At the resulting trial, I would not be surprised to hear a judge summing up with..

"It is clear that this was the act of a bully. You knew this man could not defend himself which is precisely why you picked on him. You were bigger, stronger younger and fitter. You beat him mercilessly and you enjoyed it. Overweight and out of breath he tried to run but was physically unable to do so. You will go to pri...."

Etc.

Look, I understand no manager is going to stick a potential money-spinner in front of Sonny Liston after 5 fights, but Christ, if people are paying to see a fight, that's what they should get - not what they can see for free in any city centre on a Saturday night, from some roid-rage bell.

Pretty much agree with all of this. I wish commissions would not allow uncompetitive fights within reason. This simple change would greatly change the sport imho.

Having said that I don't think this sort of thought process should be directed at Hughie if that is the case. Outside of the cat he fought who'd been KTFO in all 4 of his pro fights I don't think you could argue Hughie hasn't fought a decent level of competition for a guy with 5 pro fights & who is less then 90 days into his pro career. A guy like Vanes Martirosyan (32-0-1) who is a top contender & who just fought a top contender to a draw & is now fighting a 24-10 opponent who's been KTFO in 2 of his last 3 fights & hasn't beaten a fighter with a winning record in just under 4 years is a type of fight that shouldn't be happening if a commission actually gave a f#ck about the safety & quality of the sport it sanctions. Make no mistake promoters should be making quality matchups themselves, but ultimately they are a slave to the dollar, the commissions shouldn't be slaves to that.

If you looked at the guy's record before last night's fight you'd say that was a reasonable match for Fury at this stage of his career.

That Fury destroyed him without breaking sweat says just as much about Rogan (today's version) and Danny Hughes as it does about his own talents.

There is nothing wrong with keeping busy and fair play to the lad. I mean it was a mis match but they are keeping him really busy which may be more important sometimes. They are going to slowly upgrade him. I think last year they did the same with Eubanks jr but he had a tougher class of opponents.

think we should remember the guys only 18!... do you want him in with contenders already??...

he has not reached adult strength or size yet, he needs to change his body mass structure over the next 2 years, turn his puppy fat to muscle and become a bit more defined, like tyson fury has.

but lets not criticise peoples shapes when they come up with the goods technique wise, a bit of flab did not do james tony or tony tubbs or tim witherspoon etc,
