Looked to me as though the computer scoring fencing style is on its way out. These two boxed like top class pros.

The point being that GB sent three different teams, Eng, Wal and Scot - basically three bites at the cherry in every weight which is a fuckin pisstake and AIBA need to put a stop to.

If they are allowed to compete individually then why not do it?

Gives them all experience and improves the fighters below the elite.

Ah, see your point. My point was more that GB take all the credit for what Wales as a nation have achieved.

You're right, it seems unfair but it is historical.

I guess the experiences that come with being in the British team and training full time due to sponsorship and being part of the Sheffield set up has made little contribution to Selby's development as a boxer

Remember, he is British when he wins gold and Welsh when he don't

Obviously he has benefitted from full time funding and training in sheffield but he was a prodigious talent before he started with GB and that was thanks in some part to his club and the Welsh ABA.

Typical the most talented boxer weve produced in 20odd years is a flyweight. He wont get enough fights or recognition if he goes pro. If he was this dominant at welter even feather we'd have a superstar on our hands.

Reckon he will turn over? As you say his weight division isn't the most glamourous and he is ticking over nicely in the "unpaid" ranks.

WSB, full time funding and chances to win further European, world and olympic medals etc...

It's not a bad old life these days as a top class am.

I think he'll go to Rio, especially with the WSB, enhanced funding and also isnt there some other semi pro paid fights amateurs can now compete in? Not the WSB but something else? I may be wrong.

The above is the new amateur / pro comp. Does mean however Selby is not able to fight in Glasgow, but can in Rio.
