Anyone remember Lenzie Morgan?

Here is one guy who coulda been a contender.

I remember him taking Nigel Benn 10 and vaguely remember thinking I had to placate a load of idiots at the time who thought he was a nobody. Look at the blokes he fought back in the day. Who was his matchmaker? Brick Top?

I can't believe this natural middle is now slated to fight Bruce Seldon tomorrow...

Was he the one with the bad burns, and also was he some relation to Marvin Hagler.

If I remember, he gave Benn fits before Benn pulled through.

That's right! Honestly, his record is littered with 'names'.

Was Morgan originally part of the Kronx gym stable in Detroit?

Don't know about that. I know they match their boys tough but from 1990ish he was thrown too many good lads. Again, it's all vague but he may have been managed in Hicksville, if you get my drift.

Yes he did give Benn a tough nights work indeed. I think I have that fight on tape somwhere. I remember that he is badly scared from burns I think he recieved in a house fire when he was young.

Can't recall the Marvin Hagler connection though, what was it?

I was going through his record on boxrec, googled him and didn't realise he'd died in 2014, he gave Nigel Benn loads of problems

Just looked him up, it says he lost to Ben 98:98 that makes it a draw lol must be a mistake. Was it a close hard fight?

I remember him alright, a very capable fighter. That's going back a few years though.

Wow. RIP Lenzie Morgan.

He was a tough guy alright. The fire that caused all the burns must have been pretty serious.

If I remember right his 10 rounder with Benn was Benn's first at 12st? It was close and he pushed Benn all the way but I had Benn edging the fight despite some close rounds.

Tough tough man

It's America, Jon. People shoot each other willy-nilly here then just tell the Old Bill "I was in fear for my life" & Bingo, you're off scot free.

I have to be honest I actually thought I saw him fight live. I was convinced but a quick peruse of his record says that I didn't. fornicate knows who I'm thinking of. I went to a load of Benn & Eubank fights.

I watched him fight a few times (not live though). Decent fighter, tough man, but didn't have that thing needed to be better - whatever that thing is in each of us.

Correct score is 98-97½. That's a bug in the new version of Boxrec, which still needs to be sorted out.
