Your thoughts? I know a few of them could have easily be switched with others. Which ones would you change?

Super Middleweight: Roy Jones Jr 56-8-0

Some are debatable...

The obvious changes I'd make...

Super Welterweight: Thomas Hearns
Light Welterweight: Barney Ross
Super Featherweight: Sandy Saddler
Flyweight: Jimmy Wilde

The rest I agree on...or wouldn't argue too much about.

Depends if you're talking best boxer to win a world title there (at that weight) or best boxer at that weight.

@ super middle I don't think Jones did too much apart from beating a weight drained Toney. I think Calzaghe has the best argument.

@ light middle, I've no huge issue with Norris but I think Hearns or McCallum are worthy of being called the best.

@ lightweight, No issues with Duran but perhaps Benny Leonard deserves a mention. He and Gans are historically rated over Duran by a lot of the old-timers.

@ super feather, Arguello for me, maybe even Chavez or Azumah Nelson.

Wilde...I know people always go on about his KO streak and his power and he was always out-weighed etc etc, but what world class flyweights did he beat? I'd personally rate guys like Perez or Canto above him, maybe even Lynch.

All fair points...except for Norris. Don't see him in the debate.

Calzaghe and Jones both didn't get to fight the best of the best like Eubank Collins ect. But Roy obviously had more skill than Calz. Calz was undefeated but he retired at the right time

Calzaghe fought Eubank, admittedly a weight drained and late notice Eubank, but a Eubank that came to win nonetheless.

That fight came about because Collins retired when it was looking like Calzaghe might be his mandatory (not saying he was "scared" by any stretch).

Benn was well retired by this point so he had to plough his own furrow. I think outside maybe Beyer, Liles & Ottke, he fought who he could. Ok so the Reid, Brewer, Mitchell & Woodhall fights could have been unification fights but I doubt those belts would have stayed unified for long.

Good list, even though I'd probably change a few. I'd probably go Joe C at super middleweight, Monzon at middle, McCallum at jr. middle. Arguello at super featherweight and Perez (Wonjongkam probably would barely make my top 10 at 112) at flyweight. Other than that totally solid, IMO.

It is a good list,

But Muhammad Ali at #1..........

He tortured us with some of his performances......
I criticize Ali quite a bit when Ali was banned to box those were his prime years. The Ali who fought after that didn't hold a candle to the Ali who fought before the whole banning thing. Should have retired after Frazier III though

Chavez at light welter? I know he hung around there a long time, but he looked a lot more dominant at Super Feather.

I agree with this list except light fly, not familiar enough with Chang to have an opinion but will definitely check out some YouTube of his fights. Where you have 2 picks, it's 1 old school, 1 more contemporary. It might be interesting to do this up and down the list. Prime Ali vs. prime Louis would have been must-see.

To me it would be:
Super Middleweight: Joe Calzaghe. The great Roy Jones, Jr. did not stay at 168lbs long enough.
Middleweight: Carlos Monzon....14 title defenses in a great era of boxing.
Super Welterweight: Mike McCallum or Thomas Hearns....I pick McCallum not by much.
Jr. Welterweight: Aaron Pryor did not lose a fight in this weight class.
Jr. Lightweight: Flash Elorde
Flyweight: The great Jimmy Wilde
