Do boxers like footballers have any media training?
So many of them come across woefully un prepared and give repetitive answers. These days with the internet and small film companies
the exposure and interview opp's are ten fold and as we are constantly told boxing is a business surely a few hours with a media coach would be beneficial to the boxer and ultimately the fans who want entertaining.
In the end pundit work is an aspiration of many ex fighters being media savvy has to be a bonus.

Tyson Fury has to be a first in que it's painfull to watch.
And im his biggest fan but Kell could do with a bit .

The Americans seem to be great on the whole in front of camera do they train there stars?

Yeah they are that's why i'm a boxing fan primarily but its hard watching some interviews even if I like the style of the fighter.
If he comes across crap I can be put off a bit.

I don't really care how they are in interviews personally.

Which Americans do you mean? Andre Ward makes me want to kill myself when he does interviews.

Fury's personality has been the making of him. Who knows or cares about David Price in the general public? And he had an Olympic medal as a head start. Fury has talked, and sang, his way to where he is.

Mallinaggi / Bradley even Alexander Paul Williams was great . Ward is dull by definition but he comes across a lot better than some.
@Mickey yeah he has but he didn't exactly do it with panache did he its cringe worthy be honest yes gets him noticed but the likes of Haye do it with a little more che ne sai quais nes pas . And has had greater success they are different but it can lower the whole tone of a broadcast when someone goes off on one and cant round it off neatly.

It's things like that that aside from great fights make boxing broadcasts memorable. Whatever happens in Tyson Fury's career I'll always remember that song, unfortunately.

Have'nt you heard its all mapped out Haye gets it first then both Klits then step down and let Hury fight a mandatory.
If he does all that and you always remember him for that shower of shit song he's gonna love you.

Boxing is all the better for its characters. Fans get to see what the fighters are really like. They're not boring robots like footballers.

As someone who works in the media, let me just say that boxers are better as they are.

As for the footballers referred to they have to be so so careful because of the FA.
Thaat's why they never expand on topics and interviewers rarely ask the pointed questions.
Disrepute charges are open ended not like a fixed penalty notice !
That's why they come across bland and repetitive.

Even if they just did mock ups or helped them to change how they answer a question elaborate on a topic.

Lennox Lewis had media training, and he was a real bore on the mic.

Boxers should do what Muhammad Ali did, look to pro wrestling.

Nah, lets ensure boxers keep the "bloke down the pub" persona for as long as they can. Much better than the aloof footballer mentality.

My mum was watching BBC Breakfast a couple of days after the second Carl Froch- Mikkel Kessler fight and she was very impressed in how Carl Froch came over in the interview on BBC Breakfast that morning, and he has been quite good when he does the punditry too on Sky. Also Matthew Macklin comes over quite well too.
