Interesting matchup: A battle between two under achieving & mildly overhyped heavyweights.

Ruddock was the better operator though.

Rudduck pre 1990 would have outboxed Grant & Ruddock 1990 - 1992 would have sparked him out.

Every time Grant fought someone from top10, he was floored and humilated (forget Golota who gave away a fight he already won). This was just the combination of his chin and defence (both poor), so I do not see why it should end different against Ruddock.

ruddock easily....grant didnt have the mentality of a fighter....ruddock was arragant he lost but he never ducked anybody......in fact ike ibeabuchi and david tua ducked a 35 yr old razor ruddock in 99....ruddock was down to 238 lbs again under mike acrie and jesse reid sr...hbo was trying to get an ibeabuchi/ruddock or a ruddock/tua ....both fighters said fuk it

Ruddock was to fight Vitali Klitschko, pulled out with injury (or was it VD?) and Chris Byrd came in late and stopped Vitali.

Ruddock vs Grant I would imagine would be over very quickly, possibly in the 1st, Ruddock using his trademark smash to great effect on this big inviting target.

Ruddock was extremely dangerous with his left smash, he would have KOd Michael Grant easily and would have been a danger to Vladimir early in his career

You're saying they didn't want any part of the Ruddock who'd been stopped by Morrison in 95? I find that doubtful, especially with Ike, who fought Tua, just as hard a puncher IMO.

Yes, he was bogged down in legal problems with Don King, Murad Muhammad, and his own brother.

I think you're a bit harsh- he did 'nothing of note'? He engaged in a spectacular punch-up with world class Tommy Morrison which would be a candidate for heavyweight fight of the decade. None too shabby!

He was building up towards something in his comeback but alas missed out on the Vitali fight due to illness. I would think he would've been too old but you never know. His power even then versus a John Ruiz or Wladimir Klitschko, or Kirk Johnson? Who knows?

yes both guys ducked ruddock in 99...hbo was trying to put it together.
