To be fair though 3 months is a decent amount of time to get in shape! You can overtrain aswell as not do enough. I think Eddie likes to duck fights more than people think. A lot of people have him down as some saviour of british boxing since he's come along but to me he doesnt seem any different in all honesty.

Columbo I was taking the piss mate although you know that there is no way Eddie Gurn would let his brand spanking new signing fight his main rival on his main rival's tv station especially as there is a serious chance he could get beaten in his first fight under Matchroom.

Like Final round said, the reality of the situation is more likely that Hearn knows or atleast thinks that Framptom would beat Quigg and also on a FW show. He's just invested probably a fair bit of money in signing Quigg and him losing in his first fight since being with Matchroom isnt going to help Hearn turn him into another cash cow for Matchroom.

Absolutely spot on. He was doing it again on Sat in his national newspaper column, claiming he'd offered Froch £2.4m to fight Cleverley. Its the oldest trick in the book and is absolute bollocks, on the off chance Froch accepted, fwank would load the contract with so many future options the fight would never come off.

Froch has the next 12-18 months at 168lbs mapped out and they're all big fights, on major channels, against major names, with the boxing world genuinely interested. Fwank should concentrate on Cleverley's career before Nathan ups and leaves him. Nathan's reign is a disgrace and they're no nearer to a Bernard Hopkins fight now than they were 3 years ago. Froch has more chance of getting that fight, should he want it.

Fwank should take some of that £2.4m and spend it on some decent challengers for Nathan, to build up Nathan's standing as a reigning and unbeaten world champ, instead of paying peanuts and getting monkies....

Surely Cleverley's next fight will be a big unification fight? After all, that's what all the press releases were about prior to Nathan's last defence....

Then when he got to #1 mandatory, they vacated the WBC the same morning after it was announced.

Then, funnily enough, the WBO stripped him of his other title, assuming he was staying at 175lb - and they wrote a grovelling letter saying it was a mistake, that they wanted to keep the WBO version and would be going back to 168 to defend it !

As it happens, Popkins scare the life out of him, he then retired after RJJ as we all know.

But my point is, take the offers with a pinch of salt.

He should take that £2.4m and pay off any out of pocket creditors from his old companies - you know Calzaghe, the Millennium stadium and any other boxers, etc that have not been paid in full.

Also another interesting aspect to this is - if it is so legit, why didn't he offer it to Hatton? I know they don't get on, but he would have been very likely to accept a lower offer than that.

Quite, make the offer as soon as Quigg goes to Matchroom, typical Warren tactics. As a couple of Hatton's boxers have been on his channel lately, I'd have thought the fight would have been fairly easy to make.

He's only just got Frampton himself.
