Erm, strange? Hahaha. Can't really say to much about that. The kid has some good wins but I'm done with fighting every week.if I can beat the boy. I will.im not there to move around.if I get a chance I will take it.

Ill deffo go out for the win bill. If I can't beat him.age and fights have caught up. Look the boys improved.nothing is a given in this game but I am confident. Then again.confidence is something I've never really been left wanting

Just out of interest, if you do win and look good, do you expect the phone to ring less?

Johnny, are you retiring at 100 then or will you carry on? If you rack up a few wins surely you could win a masters or area tittle before you hang them up.

I lost the fight tonight.although I landed the cleaner bigger shots all thru.no complaints with losing but I really went in to have a go.there are a few things that went on this week that really affected my readiness for a tough fight but that's to take nothing away.floyd pipped it on work rate.that said the ref really had it in for me and I along with others felt extremely short changed.im retiring without doubt and I know deep down that I'm struggling a bit.picked up another cut which is not good at all.its not a level field & I felt like I was fighting two men.i really was done no favours by mr hinds (ref)

You gave your life to boxing johnny go have some fun after your 100th fight. Relax and enjoy. Im the same as you in my thirties and pro boxing. Boxing kids at a disadvantage un level playing field. Some refs and judges won't give you a round for your efforts. Is it worth it ? All the best pal fearny

Look the fact is that it's not great money at all.but it's kept me and my family above the bread line.growing up I loved the beer and whatever else.its kept me living a clean & sensible life. I've always loved to fight & it's given me so many great memories.ive really been in with some brilliant fighters and come out the other side.i owe so much to boxing.even without money. It's been worth it 100%.

Johnny after your 100th fight will you still be involved in boxing? I'll take it your'll still train, or have you had enough of gyms?

No I am definitely staying involved.ill be working with my brother frank.im undecided whether to try to get involved with the boxing board

Johnny what's your training routine? How many miles do you run; do you do weights ect? All boxers are different just interested in your set pattern or do you change it around?

i never really run at all.hardly spar.frank works hard on my cardio but boxing regular.you need to totally relax.my faith in my ability and vast experience gets me thru everytime.id say to any young pup.totally relax or it gets fecking hard

Who with Jon? The Board look more closely at a boxers progress/decline these days with nearly every "journeyman" requiring contest reports so they are more inclined to pull your licence. Pete is a one off, 300 fights against Champions galore and he's still bright as a button. Rumour has it Pete may be releasing a book sometime in the near future.

I hope Pete does.spent a bit of time talking boxing with him I've always looked up to him, genuinely top bloke.no one will get close to what he did.

In the eyes of a huge boxing fan, your as good as any champion at what you do. Much respect.

i had talent but absolutely no dedication.i needed to do something to keep getting the work.so I tried to bring a bit of humour and fun into things to keep getting asked back.98 fights says I succeeded There was never any malice in my showboating which I think people enjoyed
