Lillis and Bunce saying Oscar Valdez is the best under 5 fight fighter in the world, a future pound for pound star.. However, isnt he the one that John Joe Nevin beat in the olympics (i might be wrong there). Regardless, its a shame theres no pro depth in UK, even europe, for our lower weight talents. But Inoue is a good shout - even though his pedigree didnt shine through in amateurs, and im not convinced p4p hes right up there. Happy to be convinced otherwise....?

His amateur pedigree was solid, not spectacular but solid. Asian games Bronze medal (losing to the home fighter in the semi) when he was what, 16-17? Presidents cup gold medal, narrowly missed out on the Olympics, beaten narrowly in the Worlds by the the Cuban who I think won gold. Think he was 75-6 (48) in the ams.

Already fighting in 10 rounds in just his 3rd bout. Think he's easily the stand out tbh.

He lost to Nevin, but he dropped him and may've won under professional rules and scoring.

His style always seemed well-suited for the pros, and many fighters with less-accomplished amateur careers became highly ranked pound-for-pound.

Dont disagree. i was making more of a comment about Nevin, and how good he could be if he wouldve gone pro in a country where fights were readily available and plentiful - rightly or wrongly guy he holds w over is now being tipped for top 10p4p.

Nevin and Selby will get nowhere turning over in the UK. I'd pick selby over kevin satchell if they fought tomorrow.

Whats with Japan, either Sumo wrestlers in massive budgie smugglers or crazy ass 8st fighters. Last super middleweight from Japan? Bizzare disproportionate ammount of excellent lower weight fighters, mexico similar. We know how to do it in the UK, dont concentrate on dominating a division, spread the mediocrity nice and thin throughout.

I'm thinking he'll either go for the Japanese or OPBF title next then a world title to try and break Ioka's national record. Ridiculously good fighter and his victory last time out was fantastic, he basically won the fight left handed after hurting his right hand.

Last Super Middleweight from Japan is...Yuzo Kiyota (23-3-1, 21) who fights Robert Stieglitz next month

Murata's just turned professional as well. And in coming weeks they have just the second (EVER) Japanese Heavyweight title bout!
