Says he shall only come to the UK for a Froch fight.

Not remotely interested in Clev, says he's not fought anybody. But will give Bellew his chance, but only when his mandated time comes.

I wasn't that bothered originally about Froch vs Adonis, but since that highlight reel knockout, it's definitely raised an interest.

Not interested in Clev?? Hasn't fought anyone!! Hasn't he heard of Mark Phillips!

Man i wish the Froch vs Stevenson fight would happen but like mafia1 said he's far too dangerous for the reward for Eddie gurn to touch him with a bargepole.

If Stevenson beats Shaun Hawk, then he earns his shot

Froch would tear Stevenson a new one. Adonis is perfect for Carl, blunders forward, can be hit, frail. Carl could win it in a dogfight or just by boxing, whatever he chooses.

Stevenson rightly doesn't care about Cleverly and would knock him out in a couple of rounds. Bellew the same.

I dont think it's as easy a fight for Froch as you're making out! Froch isnt the perfect boxer himself and it's not like he cant be hit himself. I really dont think he's been in with anyone who hits as hard as Stevenson! Abraham I think is the closest thing but he was a middleweight who came up so he was a naturally smaller man.

froch should go for it.

no one beats carl in a physical fight, and forget the weight because stevenson only just moved up from 168.

froch beats the best canadians and stevenson can say that froch ran scared when stevenson was top IBF contender.

it'd be agreat fight and froch can win another major title - at home. in this case recognition as beyond doubt The Man at his weight.

how amazing, and astonishing, and unlikely would it be, if froch fought stevenson and cleverly fought kovalev?

It would be brilliant but I dont think it will happen :(

Easily winnable fight for Froch, one which would get him a lot of credit too. Let's not forget that Stevenson was knocked out by Boone a couple of years back.

...on a bill promoted by fw!

carl would be chief support, no doubt

carl can definitely do it. he could get clipped and have to get over some rocky spells but i'm confident he'd win a punishing fight - how about at catchweight?

I wouldnt say easily winnable. Stevenson is a better boxer than people give him credit for and he does seriously whack! It's true though that he is somewhat vulnerable. Saying that though, if you watch the first fight with Boone there is a good argument that he could of continued as when he got up he wasnt that hurt and the ref waved it off without giving him a chance really.

is there any evidence to suggest Stevenson hits any harder than Kessler?

Froch-Stevenson would be a good fight. Maybe have it at a catch weight so Carl can contest the light heavy strap? Stevenson is happy to come down and Carl obviously doesn't see any future at 175. Make it at 170, title on the line. Boom, big event.

This promotion lark is easy :OhYes:

Go and look at quite a few of his knockouts. No doubt Kessler hits hard but you dont see that many Kessler knockouts where he knocks the guy out with pretty much one punch! Also ive read about a lot of rumours coming out of the gyms in Detroit where Stevenson has apparantly been knocking out cruiserweights and heavyweights.

yep, unless Stevenson is deemed too dangerous even more froch.

way I see it, a great way to get out of ward's shadow, if froch can avoid/withstand the punch of Stevenson.

one of those fights which, if it misfires, the promoter will get some real stick; but if all goes well, will get applauded for matching aggressively & taking risks.

You can only go on what you see (I don't tend to take much notice of gym rumours) and that suggests Stevenson is as big a one-punch hitter as anyone P4P. Kessler, for all his qualities, isn't.

Allan Green, Markus Beyer, Magee was one punch to the body, all of the top of my head. Aside from Dawson, who has clearly been affected by his weight yo-yoing and the Ward fight and just doesn't seem to be the same guy who beat Adamek, Stevenson has just knocked out bums, whereas the three guys above were decent.

You hear a lot of rumours in boxing.

one thing we've all skipped over, including myself:

bellew's fought 2 elims so it's likely bellew will be the one to fight Stevenson. if froch got the fight it'd cause friction within, surely.

Bellew says Stevenson won't last twelve rounds with him

19.06.13

by @shaun_brown

Tony Bellew may be on holiday but that didn’t stop him wanting to respond to Adonis Stevenson’s comments in an interview with Livefight’s John Evans from yesterday.

Stevenson who recently bulldozed his way to a world title victory against demolition project Chad Dawson told LF “I don’t know Tony Bellew. Who is he? I don’t know him. I know Carl Froch is a big name in England but I don’t know Bellew.”

Despite his best attempts to relax and be away from boxing, Bellew had this to say in reply.

“Believe me he’ll know who I am. He’ll have known who I was probably before the Chad Dawson fight because I am mandatory challenger. What he’s doing is just mind games. Let’s not forget he was beaten by a journeyman in Darnell Boone.

“I’m his mandatory and I’ve worked my way into this position. Stevenson still has questions that needs answered. Can he go fast for twelve rounds? I know I can, I’ve proved I can. Can he get up from a punch, recover and win? I know I can.

“I’m an educated boxer, he’s a vicious puncher who’s wild and crude. Don’t get me wrong he’s a vicious puncher of the highest calibre and is definitely one of the pound for pound hardest hitters but I’ll say this right now: he will not last twelve rounds with me.”

With that off his chest, Bellew is currently enjoying all the fruits of his labour after two successive fights against the tricky Isaac Chilemba. After their first fight in March, the Liverpudlian got a disputed draw and wanted to correct what he did wrong with an immediate rematch that took place last month. That night, on the undercard of the Carl Froch-Mikkel Kessler rematch, Bellew boxed to orders and ticked every question that had been asked. The jury had been out but now the verdict is much more positive.

“I feel a bit more complete and I’m a lot happier to be honest,” Bellew explained.

“I’d go as far as to say that in the second fight that my career was on the line. I was angry and disgusted with myself after the first fight. In the rematch I buried him. I’ve got a brilliant coach in Mick McAllister and I listened to everything he said. I showed what I’m capable of. I’ve been through a lot of shit in the last 18 months and now things are taking shape.”

And with his promoter Eddie Hearn currently in America speaking to the powers that be at U.S television network HBO, great things might be around the corner for Bellew.

“Eddie’s in America and he’s working hard for me. HBO know who I am and are happy with me to be an opponent for Stevenson. My stock has gone up significantly since the second Chilemba fight. I’ve gone down well with them. There are lots of things going on behind the scenes and you might be surprised at what’s coming next but you’ll have to talk to Eddie about that!”

And with that a content and relaxed Bellew returned to his holiday.

Eddie’s phone, however, went straight to voicemail!

Allan Green has no chin, as evidenced in pretty much all his losses and even his signifant wins. Beyer in reality was a paper champion and Magee is shot worn and loses everytime he steps up against decent comp. You could say the same for Green actually.

So your criteria was one shot power against guys who are moderately tough/have something left. OK, got it. None of Stevenson's wins count then. You can do this with anything.

No im just saying if you look at their knockouts, Stevensons on the whole tend to be more violent. Also other boxers like Pascal have said he hits like a heavyweight! Finally go and read the comments that Don George and Edwin Rodriguez have made in the past about Stevenson. George said he was still hurting after a month after their fight and that Stevenson is the harder puncher he's ever been in the ring with and Rodriguez fought Stevenson as an amateur and was dropped by him and he also said he's never fought or sparred a guy who hits as hard as him. Rodriguez has also sparred Froch and other top guys in the division.

OK, you put stock in lots of hearsay and gym gossip, I'm sure a lot of people bigged up Jeff Lacy's trail of gym destruction too and he's looked like a killer in the ring to boot, against the type of foe Stevenson has been feasting on. We'll see what happens when Adonis gets into a tough fight with someone who can soak up punishment, my guess is he'll fold again, but I'm looking forward to finding out.

Well it isnt really hearsay when its guys who have been in the ring with him saying that! Rodriguez nor George had to say that but they obviously clearly felt that was the case.
